I’m a little confused/naive - how do we know this was to satisfy sexual needs/gratification and if it is, whose: the guy who made the video and or the guy who ate himself? If it was the guy who ate himself, how could he get-off if he didn’t have the goods with which to do this?
Man, I really don’t get sado masachism stuff - I’m instantly turned-off by a mere nipple tweak.

Is this appropriate, if the evidence conclusively proves the acts were consensual?
If it was murder, it was obviously premeditated - I don’t know what the penalty for that is in Germany, but in Canada that means an automatic life sentence (25 years before parole is possible).
Would this be appropriate in this case? If so, why? Should the gruesomeness and perversity displayed result in a harsher sentence than someone who assisted another to commit suicide - without the additional sexual and cannibalistic rituals?

I’m trying to get a grip on what could have happened to drive him to this particular corner of weirdness.
Think of the worst mental/physical torture imaginable. Let’s say that you strip me, imprison me in a lightless, stone cell and that every hour on the hour the ressurected corpse of Nell Carter comes in and ass-rapes me with an 8 foot strap-on made on splintery pine slathered with molasses.
This would still not make me want to eat my own nuts.

This reminds me of the ‘Broken’ movie by Nine Inch Nails. Although never officially released to the public (because of extremely graphic content), it nonthless can be found on the internet if you know where to look. I’ve watched it, and it is rather disturbing. (as an interesting side note, one of the highlighs of my freshman year of college was making my first-time-drunk-goody-two-shoes roommate watch it at 1:30 a.m.)

Spit, I’m sorry, but I guess I’ve seen too many people saying that if we start being tolerant of “the homosexual lifestyle”, then sooner or later we’ll have to be tolerant of things like pedophilia, rape, beastiality, etc.
See what I mean? I’m sorry if I didn’t get the joke, but too many people seriously think that if you accept gays, then morality goes out the window.

OK, I did bit of searching, and I realize “The Broken Movie” is something else entirely.
It is wrong to assume that because someone does something totally mental that they are insane, Jeffrey Dhamer was ruled sane by the courts. On the subject of Jeff I think his crimes are far more lurid and shocking, at leats the german guy had the decency to ask permission.
