An unimportant question about font display in SD forum tables of content

Some topic-subjects-“heds” (as they’re known in SD) in the list in SD–and each forum, I guess, but I haven/t checked–seem to me to be bolder than others.

Is that just me? (iMac Retina).

I’d like to thank you all for the opportunity to use the plural postpositive adjective in the hed. I have never done so previously for the current example.

eta: sorry about the blue.
eta: actually, I could have gone with “topics-subject” as well.

Hasn’t the bolded thread titles always been there as an indicator of new posts in that thread? Is that what you mean?

Is that what it is?

Never thought about “new” as to whom–SD or me, or SD-or-me opened/not opened.

Interesting about the semiotics of information graphics.

I believe it’s new posts since the last time you loaded a page (whether you did or didn’t open, or did or didn’t participate in that thread). Not 100% sure though.

To me, it looks like bold is an indicator of a new thread that you have not opened to date, whereas the little icons to the left indicate whether or not the thread has new messages within it (it could be an old thread with new messages).

Threads are blue highlighted if there are new posts since the last time you were “active”, i.e. something pinged your status on the board. If the server isn’t glitching on your status.

I guess the open envelope icons mean the same thing.
