Anachronism.com, Or How You're Keepin' It Old School

Still using this calculator in everyday use since 1982.

I installed a 4th set of batteries in it last year.

You’d be likely to blow something out since the Philippines uses 220 V @ 60 Hz. You’re right about the flat pins though.

As for my anachronism - I don’t have a cell phone.

I got my primary graphics/paint program from a Macworld book in 1994. On a floppy disk (Actually, I believe it had to be split up over a couple of floppy disks).

One of the models I’m using in a flight simulator project was extracted from Bungie’s Myth: The Fallen Lords, circa 1997.

I last used a Hypercard stack about three days ago. It may be the only copy still in existence.

I know what a Stirgil, a Nelaton Probe, and a Orbitoclast are, and how they are used. I have occasionally wished I had my own.

Even cooler (I think), from the same site: Steampunk Keyboard.

I have the same one, bought it later than '82, though.

Someday, I’m gonna (sorry, going to) get a Curta.

Australia? What’s that? Never heard of it.

I am posting from the Colony of New South Wales on the continent of New Holland, just north of Van Diemen’s Land.

Latecomer.

I’m posting from just west of Fort Rouillé in New France, not far from the great Carrying Place trail that leads to the upper lakes. And, certainement, we drive our wagons on the right, not like the perfidious English along the east coast.

I still have a bank book.

I have to update it periodically by taking it to the bank.

The account is in a town I’ve not lived in for 30 years.

My parents opened the account for me when I was born, to save my family allowance payments.

The account number is all of four digits long.

Someday, I’ll pre-pay my funeral with cheque on that account.

Yeah, I’ve probably seen more movies from any single year in the 1930s than I have from the past decade.

I’m posting from Shichisei-gun, Taihoku Prefecture, Formosa.

Where bank books are standard issue and personal checks are unknown.

My daughter is 2 years old in speech therapy because the only things she says are “kitty kitty” “uhoh” “hello” and “Thank you!”

I’m insanely proud that one of her first words/phrases is “thank you”

Anachronistic…hmm…I say Sir and Ma’am. I believe in table manners are far more important than most people apparently think.

Toss me back to the 70’s because I still think women deserve equal rights.

I’d dress in all 50’s dresses if I could. I love pointy high heel shoes.

I still think a woman that wears red shoes is one to be wary of.

I’m deeply in love with the steampunk computer also.

Oh, I still think men should take out the trash. No matter how far we’ve come.

Oooh, I forgot, I still count change back the old fashioned way. Even when I’m dealing poker. Player bets $350, player calls with a $500 chip, I count back toss 'em 50, that’s four hundred, toss ‘em 100, that’s five. I’ve had players comment that I do it weird. Um, that me, kickin’ old school.

No one knows how to make change any more. (Oh, and I learned to type on a manual typewriter)

When I see someone driving too fast in an inappropriate place, I holler “Twenty-Three Skiddoo!” at them.

I really do.
