In RotJ, Luke recalls to Leia how he has no memory of his Mother.
Does this imply that he has memories of his Father?
Vague recolections as a small child of a pre-Vader Jedi?

I’m going to go ahead and assume right now that Anakin hits the road very soon after the twins are born. So perhaps he doesn’t even mention his father because that’s not even an issue.
Or mebbe Unca George will “explain” how Luke’s connection to his father was some Midichlorian thingie.
Actually, I assume that the whole mother conversation was because L and L are trying to make a sibling connection in the face of realizing they are BOTH Vader’s children, and as a way to override all previous messages about being attracted to one another in the earlier films.
You ever notice how easily she brushes off the revelation that her hated enemy Lord Vader is her Pop?
She barely blinks, remember Luke’s reaction?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I’m thinking he splits while she is still pregnant. IIRC, Vader didn’t know about Leia until he read Luke’s mind in ROTJ.
“Your sister? Obi Wan did well to hide this from me.”
Yea, but Vader hadn’t been hunting her down and Luke didn’t cut off her digts right beforehand. (groan)
Yeah, maybe Leia was created by midichlorians, while inside amidala who was pregnant with Luke. Then Luke and Han go rescue her and fall in love, thereby bringing down the Dark Jedi. So it’s all thanks to incestual longing. Thanks, George!
Y’know, that’s gotta be a really rough moment for Leia. I mean, look at what she learns:
[li]Vader is on the moon, threatening the mission[/li][li]Vader, the guy that has personally tortured her twice is Luke’s father.[/li][li]Luke, the guy that she has kissed quite passionately and who has been mooning after her since Ep.IV is, in reality, her brother.[/li][li]It is not said aloud, but the fact is that Vader, (see point two) is actually her father too![/li]
Sure, she doesn’t scream like Luke did (that’s still my favorite scene), but she does go into a kind of shock, and is unable to talk to Han. All along I thought she was remarkably wimpy in this scene, compared to the same girl who was always so saucy before. But looking at it this way, I can see why she wouldn’t really feel like talking and just want to be held for a minute.
I think the scene doesn’t imply that he remembers his father
Her remembers neither from his youth.
He just learned that Vader is his father, so it is natural that he wonder about his mother.
He asks Leia about it.
<< I’m going to go ahead and assume right now that Anakin hits the road very soon after the twins are born. >>
Darth Vader has no knowledge that there was a sister until JEDI. Yoda and Obi-Wan’s discussion make it clear that the existence of a twin (?) sister was a deeply guarded secret. Hence, presumably, Anakin can’t have such knowledge, either… s
What gets me is wouldn’t people recognize the Skywalker name back on Tatooine when OB1 takes Li’l Luke there to be raised? Hell, he plops him down in the same neighborhood where his pop grew up. Ani was the only human with the ability to pod race, you think the name would be kinda famous. People would ask, “Luke Skywalker? You any relation to Anankin Skywalker?” But Luke doesn’t seem to know anything about his dad and he’s 19 in ANH.
Maybe he’s just not interested in geneology.
I was reading what was claimed to be a (bootleg) late version of the Jedi script recently in which Obi Wan’s ghost tells Luke that Anakin didn’t know that Luke’s mother was pregnant when he left her. If - potentially big if - the script is what it claims to be, Lucas was thinking of that problem. I don’t remember it being stated so explicitly in the movie, but it’s been a long time since I saw it.
IIRC Luke knows that Anakin Skywalker was his father - what he doesn’t know is that Anakin is now Vader.
i’d also like to challenge the idea that Luke and Leia kissed ‘passionately’
If I remember correctly, it was one of the mildest screen kisses I’d ever seen, and I was six at the time.
j
Not so, Watto said the Lars ranch is “far away, on the other side of Mos Eisley”.
Luke knew his father was Anakin Skywalker, but was told he died during the Clone Wars.
The passionate kiss was in Ep.V; Luke is in the infirmary recovering from his attack by the snow monster. Han is cracking wise about how he and Leia were alone in the South Passage together where she “expressed her true feelings” for him. This is true, but his account misrepresents the fact that she said she’d rather kiss a wookie.
To prove Han is full of s***, Leia grabs Luke by the ears and tongues the back of his throat to show Han that he doesn’t “know everything about women.”
Are you kidding me? that kiss was passionate? I kiss my dog with deeper passion than that kiss. Their lips were barely apart.
j
Yes, but how does that kiss compare to the ones you give your male relatives?
The thing is, we the viewers don’t see any more of that kiss than the back of Leia’s head. There was definitely some duration to it, and it made for good fantasy-fodder (though not as good as the gold bikini), but there’s no indication at all of tongue.
I watched this last night and the kiss was not passionate. However it wasn’t a brother/sister type kiss either. And Luke did put his arms behind his head in a satisfied way as if he enjoyed it.
There was no tongue but it was for a few seconds. Their lips barely moved.
How did Anakin become Vader? Is this explained? I’m not a Star Wars nut but I have seen the 3 originals quite a few times plus Ep 1 once.
