Anakin and Luke

Go see Attack of The Clones, that will bring you up to speed on his voyage to the dark side.

I was thinking in terms of physically becoming Vader. There must have been more to it than just putting a mask and costume on. Especially if most people thought he was dead.

If AOTC explains that, then fine. I want to see it and don’t want any spoilers. Forget I asked.

Ok, by today’s standards where we actually have to have the camera lodged in an actor’s nostril and then have both actors pull their mouths apart slightly so we can see little strands of saliva swing like rope bridges between the tips of their glistening, probing tongues, the kiss was less than passionate.

It still was not the way you would kiss your brother.

And the point is anyway that Luke got involved in the whole adventure thing because Leia was a babe he wanted to save. Finally, when that movie came out, it was firmly entrenched in everyone’s mind that Luke was Leia’s girl, and that Han was moving in on her. It was a major issue generating articles in “Time” magazine. (Sorry, no cite available) The idea that Leia was Luke’s sister wasn’t even an itch in Lucas’ pants.

Oblong, AOTC will not satisfy your curiosity. It only establishes the beginnings of Anakin’s fall, not his actual seduction.

yondan, you know how to keep the spoilers rolling…

first: you ruin kissing with your rather interesting discription.
second: your rather startling revelation of luke being leia’s girl.
third: han’s interest in moving in on luke?
fourth: you know intimate details of mr lucas’ wardrobe.

my mind is awhir and a bit agast.

lol

What can I say? I was writing in haste, with General Tso’s chicken in my mouth at work…[sub]Actually, that didn’t come out the way I wanted it to, either.[/sub]

And if any of that stuff was a spoiler to anyone reading this thread, I’ll eat my hat.

I believe the story goes that Annakin somehow is pretty mutilated by a drop into some molten lava, thus requiring a rather large amount of mechanization to survive. Also, hence why Obi-Wan refers to him as “more machine than man” in the OT.

Crap, I knew I forgot something.

waves hand There are end QUOTE brackets on my last post.

One theory raised is that Obi-Wan purposely put Luke in Vader’s sandlot as bait to draw Vader into a comfrontation with Obi-Wan. Luke kept the name Skywalker and was even going to apply to the Imperial Academy - wouldn’t that have raised some flags?

Skywalker maybe a very common name…like Jones or Smith.

One thing I don’t understand…during the Great Jedi Purge,
all the Jedi were Killed in a Pogrom. Since the Force Flows in
families, one can infer hole family lines were slaughtered.
How did Luke escape this Galactic Night of Long Knives?

**This is potential Episode III spoiler material **, but the Star Wars lore holds that Obi-Wan, in a lightsaber fight with Anakin, ends up pushing him into a pit of molten tar. Hence he is severly difigured/injured, and requires the assistance of a respirator to breath (and a costume to hide in). Palpatine helps him recover, whispering sweet nothings in his ear and turning him to the darkside.

Wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume that Anakin had already turned to the Dark Side before his fight with Obi-Wan?

It would be, sure. But the above is just what I’ve read/heard over the years. Perhaps his conversion was not complete, maybe we was just extremely pissed for some reason?

Remains to be seen, it does.

Good point. I wonder how Vader actually figures out that Luke is his son. Maybe he assumes it because of the name, and because the Force is strong in him. If Vader knew that his son was named Luke Skywalker, that would have made it tough indeed.

In one of the books, chonologically between ANH and TESP,
Biggs Darklighter (one of Luke’s wingmen) is captured and the
name is tortured out of him.

I thought Biggs was killed in the attack on the Death Star. I don’t mean to sound accusatory - I’m just curious as to how the book explained that.

Or am I remembering something incorrectly?

yep, biggs died at yavin, during the attack on the death star.

i’m sure the name of the guy who shot down the death star was told far and wide. it wouldn’t take torture for the empire to find out.

re: the incest thing

there are always news accounts of two people meeting and later finding out that they are related. back in the dark ages when adoptions were sealed tighter than a … there were quite a few couples that found out they were brother and sister. if you aren’t raise as siblings or have no knowledge of a sibling, you wouldn’t think, hhhhmmm, that girl is cute, i better check to be sure she isn’t related. you just go right to, asking her out. until luke senses that leia is his twin, he just knows that he is drawn to her, that there is an illusive “something” there. thankfully, han’s special “something” turns out to be a bit stronger.

This is correct. Wedge Antilles is the wingman who survives.

Okay, so Vader finds out that this guy is named Luke Skywalker. So how does he conclude that Luke is his son? Does he even know he has a son?

I was just going to ask that, Achernar. We are told, during the opening crawl of TESB, that Darth Vader is now “obsessed” with finding Luke (though we aren’t told why - surely it can’t be just because he’s the one who got off the shot which destroyed the Death Star. Thanks to Han’s interference, that really could have been anybody). We aren’t given a scene where he finds out, like we are when Vader learns of Leia. So, did he always know, and just not clue the audience in, so that we could get the “dramatic revelation”?
