And I looked, and behold a Red Socked horse, and his name that sat on him was Boston

What Honey said. Very classy.

I’ve found through experience that crow goes down easier with good beer. If we ever meet, your response in this thread ensures that the first few rounds are on me.

Besides, in the words of every freaking Red Sox fan throughout recorded history…

“Wait until next year!”

Thanks, I could go for for several beers right now.

True. I bet they’re still mopping up the goo from Steinbrenner’s head exploding.

Poor World Eater.

At least you have the Knicks season to look forward to.

I was up in NYC last weekend, and I saw a bunch of billboards with Marbury, Houston and Thomas. They were looking very stern and serious. So I’m sure they’ll do well.

Steinbrenner, unfortunately, isn’t a ‘pitching’ man. He has never given pitching its due. Steinbrenner will see the Yankees inability to score runs against Boston pitching and try to stack the lineup even more. Hopefully, some of his baseball people will convince him of the need for top flight pitching based on the last two years post-season performances of our opponents’ pitching staffs, and some $$$ can be diverted towards pitching prospects.

Ugh, I can’t even think about the Knicks.

I’m liking Miami, Minny or Denver this year.

I still thinking back about how the Yanks were 3 outs from a sweep. Boggles the mind.

Yeh. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is much more Cubbie-esque. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can relate. The Sox were 5 outs away last year. Aaron F.N Boone.

Lol, yeah that’s right.

I saw the headlines in today’s papers about the Red Sox winning as I was walking down the street to catch the bus–literally stopped in my tracks and squeaked with joy.

Very many congratulations, Boston!
And I agree, very classy of you, World Eater. Allow me to buy you a beer for all that crow?

I’ve been talking this point up a lot amongst my immediate friends. To which I’m usually met with cold stares and something along the lines of : “you’re thinking WAY too much about this election…”

That said- GO KERRY!
er…
I mean…
Sox. GO SOX!

KERRY SOX? SOX IT TO KERRY?

I’m sure a lot of Astro fans and Bush supporters would agree.

Well thanks for the kind words everyone. It’s been a long day. Perhaps if the Jets crush the Pats this weekend, I’ll feel slightly better. I’ll also feel better if the Sox get denied the rings. Lastly, an empty fenway park falling into a giant sinkhole would help ease the pain too.

Does it have to be empty

Still, here is hoping to Roger Clemens getting Houston’s 4th win over the Red Sox. That will allow me to sleep better.

Hmmm, so in my pool, should I pick Jets or Pats, WE? No points. I’m also looking for a pick in the professional league, where the Giants play the Lions. double

Godfucking damn I hate Boston. Why oh why are you haunting me so?

<getting a grip on myself>

To further become Boston’s little bitch here, I’ll have to go with the Pats. I don’t think the Jets are in their league. The Giants should (which means nothing) make short work of the Lions.

I had somehow managed not to think about this until you mentioned it, but yeah, I think you’re right.

I think one major problem is that Mariano Rivera has reached the top of the mountain and begun to descend. IIRC, closers don’t usually last as long as he has been one, and he is older than his "official"age. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s been wonderful, but it just doesn’t compare to his first couple of years.

On another note, can we Yankees fans be allowed just one fantasy? Suppose we HAD gotten Randy Johnson.

Oh, congrats, Red Sox, especially those who are civilized enough to NOT set cars on fire.

I am now convinced that Ralph Nader will win the election in a landslide.

Knowing the way The Boss’s mind works, I think it’s odds-on that he’ll try to have Pedro in pinstripes next year.

I say it’s more the rest of the Bullpen sucking serious eggs.

Not a chance. He would have to conform to the Yankee grooming and behavior standards, for starters, which he wouldn’t do. He is also past his prime. Why would we need another starter who collapses into ashes after 100 pitches?

Yes, but had he NOT blown one of those two blown saves, Boston would not be celebrating now. Of course, there’s lots of responsibility to go around. Plus a lot of recognition of a lot of effort from the Sox, no doubt about it.
