But if Steinbrenner were to have a tantrum and try to get rid of A-Rod, who would take him? Nobody would want him. He’s simply not worth his salary. Really, only the Red Sox could hope to afford him, and they’re have to unload salary to do it. Baltimore is dumb enough to spend the money but they have a shortstop who drove in 150 runs so I don’t think A-Rod is high on their wish list.
They’re stuck with him. And they’re stuck with a lot of worse players making primo moolah, too. Even the Yankees can only waste so much, and they’re getting up to the limit.
From the Sunday paper a story strongly suggesting that crappy management with racist overtones has had more to do with BoSox winless streak than the Babe.
