Most of these allegations about Kinsey are driven by a woman named Judith Reisman, an insane and thoroughly discredited right-wing zealot (the type who literally believes that homosexuals are trying to recruit children in public schools) who has made a career of slandering Kinsey and inventing more and more ridiculous lies about his research. Unfortunately, enough people believe her crap that all this pure and malicious ignorance continues to have a life on the internet and with fundies everywhere.
IIRC, bonzer has done some research on this controversy and has debunked Reisman on this board in the past. Perhaps he’ll show up in this thread.

Leonard Nimoy took photographs of naked women and published them in a book titled Shekhina. Shekhina is Hebrew word meaning both the radiance of G-d and the feminine aspect of G-d. You remember the massive protests of Jewish groups over these things?
I think I got the reasonning. There has been debates about whether datas obtained in inhumane condition should be used or not in medical science. And it seems to me that Mengele was used as an example in said debates. For instance, if Mengele conducted some particularily nasty experiment, and he noted down the result, should these datas be ignored because they were obtained in an inhumane way, or should they be used because the harm is already done, and it could be useful for medical science (especially since they can’t possibly be conducted again)?
Apparently, Kinsey would have used in his study datas provided by a criminal and gathered in the pursuit of his criminal actions. Hence, he would be in the same position as a medical scientist who would have published a study based on the results of Mengele’s experiments, something that many could consider as morally bankrupt.
There’s still a step missing (comparing him directly to Mengele rather than to the medical scientist), and this is only a wild guess, but this assumption make the piece you quoted somewhat less idiotic.

I wasn’t really interested in the film; I’m still not really interested. Still, if fundamentalist groups are upset about it, it’s probably pretty good, and I will now be making a point of going.
I’ll second that recommendation. My biggest laugh-out-loud moment was when the boyfriend, sent off to a boarding school to “cure” his homosexuality, is finally allowed to make phone calls and mentions his roommate who is there for the same reason. :smack:
