And the 11th Doctor is...

If we’re going into the past for companions, I nominate Tim Latimer.

Thanks. I have to say I can’t remember him at all!

Since we’re allowed to go into the past, I’d like to see Marc Warren as the new Docter. Warren played Elton Pope in the “Love & Monsters” episode.

Ew. Wasn’t Patterson Joseph the guy with the terrible southern American accent in Jekyll? That was kinda painful. He’s pretty easy on the eyes, though. If they can keep him in his own voice, maybe he’d be okay.

I’m still voting for Ejiofor, though.

I hate that they’re going through the last few incarnations so quickly, especially since the last two have been better than any of them since Tom Baker. Why can’t they let us enjoy some good ones for a while?

Tennant will have had around 38 separate stories by the end of his run. That’s a lot, even compared to the original series.

I was hoping he would break the record for the number of years as the Doctor.

Yep, that was him. He is very easy on the eyes, and when he’s speaking with his normal English accent, he’s very acceptable.

Well, it seems like it was Tennant’s decision to leave. What were they supposed to do? Chain him to the Doctor Who set? It was definitely Christopher Eccleston’s decision to move on to other projects. So I guess you should be asking, “Why can’t the actors just be happy with their steady paychecks for a while?”

While I support Robert Carlyle, having enjoyed him in 24-Redemption and seeing a bit of Patrick Troughton in him, my heart is with Jennifer Saunders. Bit of a long shot, either of them, but a geek can dream.

In the United States, I believe it’s customary to sign the principals of a series to three-year contracts. I know there have been exceptions, but you rarely hear of someone leaving a series after one or two seasons if the producers really want them to stay. Is this not done in Britain? I know shorter series are more common, but Dr. Who version one ran for quite some time, and “Last of the Summer Wine” is still lurching toward its 30th season.

I think most stars either bag a ‘golden handcuffs’ deal where it’s so lucrative they’d be dumb not to stay, so they’re effectively tied to a show/channel, or they just move on when they want. (I’m sure someone can correct me?)
Hence such disappointment when Ecclestone moved on after what seemed like 5 minutes as the Doctor. I was gutted then because I thought he and Billie worked so well together, but Tennant came along and was awesome too!

It’s strange how the Doctors have become a fair bit younger - compare Tennant to Troughton? I wasn’t born when it all started but my dad tells me the premise was a bit of a wacky, almost doddering old scientist.

dropzone, as for Jennifer Saunders, I just can’t see it. I’ll always see her as Eddie Monsoon!

Weren’t people talking about Adrian Lester (Mickey from Hustle)? Johnson is, of course, the man but Lester is more suave I think.

Wikipedia is listing it as David Bowie.

I’m assuming this is just vandalism.

Now, it’s listed as John Hannah, which sounds a bit odd, but more believable.

It’s gotta be Matt Smith - they just said on the TV show that they’ve cast a 26 year old.
(Unless it’s Billie Piper, which let’s face it, it can’t be…can it?)

Yep, that’s it.

Is what? Billie Piper? Matt Smith? C’mon, you can’t leave us 'Mericans hanging like this!

It’s Matt Smith.

Matt Smith.

My first thought is “Big forehead”.
