Star running back for the San Francisco 49ers, who, back on Oct. 27 told Fresno Bee columnist Milo F. Bryant, “I don’t want any faggots on my team. I know this might not be what people want to hear, but that’s a punk. I don’t want any faggots in this locker room.”
Hearsts oh-so charming comments were a reaction to former NFL defensive lineman Esera Tuaolo declaring that he is gay on HBO’s Real Sports show.
What a charmer you are, Garrison. Why not just wear a T-shirt that says God Hates Fags?
I can’t even begin to imagine how horrified you’d be if you found out that one (or more) of your current teammates is gay. What would you do, demand to be traded? Retire? File a lawsuit.
Asshat.:wally :wally :wally :wally
Personally, I wouldn’t mind a gay guy hitting on me. I’d probably politely decline, but hey, it’d bolster my ego…
Oh well. Mr. Hearst said a dickheaded thing, and got smacked upside the head for it. Hopefully, this’ll knock a bit of sense into him. 'Course, it’s not like I’m going to get my hopes up…
I’m with you, SPOOFE. One of the best days I remember is one last summer, when I was having a coffee & a smoke at a cafe a coupla blocks from my then-girlfriend’s. Got chatted up twice– first by a woman, then by a man. Boy, did I ever feel virile & attractive by the time I got to her place.
As for Hearst, I think everyone should just take to calling him “Mr. Garrison” in a campy voice until he collapses into a puddle of pathetic insecurity.
Damn right. “I’m sorry that I hurt their feelings” is a hell of a lot different than mea culpa. Any apology should begin with three little words: “I was wrong”.
His “apology” is a bit weasely if you ask me… but I do give him props about owning up to what he said (he didn’t pull that “misquoted” bullshit). It’s just that this is no fucking apology.
And just stupid, too. The guy plays for the freakin 49’ers. The San Francisco 49’ers. I mean of all the NFL cities… demographics man! If you are stupid enough to believe that shit, you can at least be smart enough to keep your fucking mouth shut.
He wasn’t exactly a Rhodes Scholar when he played for Georgia and he sure is Hell is showing it here.
I’m still going to go with my vote for Jeremey Shockey as homophobe of the year. He was on Howard Stern week 2 of the NFL and loudly proclaimed that he didn’t like ‘gays’ and if he found out there was a ‘gay’ on his team, he wouldn’t stand for it, because ‘it’s not right’.
Good way to start your career in the NFL, Phelps.
Dear Homophobes of the NFL (Now there’s an idea for a calendar…):
We promise we are not attracted to you. Really. How could we be attracted to bigots? I mean, think about it. That’s like going for it on 4th and 10 on your 1-yard-line.
As such, you need not worry about having to do any more with us than exist.
Get over yourselves.
Love,
Us.
Does anyone happen to know if these guys (homophobes, not non-hets) have multiplied and there’s one on the Colts?
No, it wasn’t much of an apology, but then he didn’t have much to apologize for, in his eyes. He’s a bigot and he’s comfortable with that. Every headline I’ve seen around here uses the words ‘regret,’ and I’m damn sure he regrets that he said it, now (more accurately, he probably regrets that he said it to a reporter), but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still feel that way.
Did anyone see Tuaolo’s interview with Costas and crew on HBO’s Inside the NFL, and stuff? It was very thought provoking and stuff. For a former football player and stuff, he’s very well spoken and stuff.
