And the most homoerotic movie ever made is...

Oh, I disagree, but it was pretty overt. Johnny the Boy was clearly Toecutter’s lover, there were two guys in the gang that pretty much held hands and made out the whole movie, and Bubba was certainly giving off that vibe.

3:10 to Yuma was pretty homoerotic. In fact, like Point Break, I’m not sure the character motivation makes sense unless you accept that Ben (Crowe) was in lust/love with Dan (Bale), and Charlie and Ben were either lovers or Charlie really wished they were. In some moments, the subtext was practically text–Ben’s obsession with green eyes and Charlie had the greenest eyes I ever saw. Or at that other point when Ben sketched a picture of Dan on the bed.

Does Billy Joel’s Allentown video count?

I thought there were homoerotic undertones in the movie version of Enemy Mine, but a friend who saw the movie with me said that I was just imagining things.

Okay, should I watch Point Break? I’ve never seen it, and it’s older now. Does it hold up?

Um, yes? In some ways, it’s the most awesome movie. Ever. Made.

Maybe, I guess I mainly remember the pretty wife from the first movie, not the gang members so much. *Road Warrior * had so much more that I thought he confused the two movies. It had the nearly naked guy on a chain and I thought a lot more. I obviously don’t recall either movie as well as you though, so I will bow to your knowledge.

Please tell me this is in the "so bad it’s good category’. The acting was poor and the writing and dialogue worse. The movie was fun, but it was pretty close to a killer B for acting and writing.

Well, I’ve added it to my Netflix queue. I always add movies I’ve run across on the Dope but when they come up three months later I’m all “why on earth did I add that?” I wish Netflix had a note section so I could leave myself a note: “Point Break is supposed to be homoerotic and Lissener says best. movie. ever.”

That way I know who to blame later. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow. That may be the most blatant unintentionally gay movie yet. Good call.

I think this was from Sarah Silverman but not sure…

Answer: “300”

Question: “How gay is this movie on a scale of one to ten?”

I couldn’t agree more, there are parts that make you love this movie, and parts that make you want to slam your head in a car door. Watch it and start a thread about it…

Does Hot Fuzz count? Obviously, the dialogue between Nick and Danny was meant to double as romantic, and their night out supposed to play as a first date (actually, I’ve heard that there was originally supposed to be a love interest for Nick Angel, and when she got cut out of an earlier draft of the script, they just gave all of her dialogue to Danny without changing it much).

Lion in Winter has to be up there, which is why I think it never became as popular as it should be.

What makes you think that the gay subtext of Rope was unintentional? Screenwriter Arthur Laurents and stars John Dall and Farley Granger were gay. I think Hitchcock knew what he was doing.

Aside from being a hilariously stupid movie, Superbad was also really, really gay. The relationship between the boys gave me a real Y Tu Mama Tambien vibe and it was almost a surprise they didn’t end up having some sort of experience together. I was tempted to buy the phallographic tie-in book afterwards.

I think it counts. Danny is clearly the love interest in the film, and they even said on the commentary that the line “Shoot all the little people and waltz away with the cuddly monkey.”

…is what?

I have to second or third the Lord of the Rings movies.

pepperlandgirl, don’t leave us hanging!

Is The Maltese Falcon (Wilmer Cook as Kaspar Gutman’s “gunsel”) too overt to qualify?
