I’m trying to work a Simpsons joke in here, but not having any luck.
This is being seen everywhere I guess. It’s really unfortunate. In the Bay Area in California, we see this all the time. Someone does a heinous crime, serves their time, and is released only to be run out of city, and towns and eventually ends up in the middle of the country living in a shack hiding from locals and the press.
Usually it’s for sex-based offenses here since they must register upon release and it is unfortunately public information. If we are going to allow locals to trample all over former felons who are released, why release them at all?
The ridiculousness if the situation came to light for me when they released Carey Verse. Local communities picketed and made the guy’s life hell. He has been treated, was incarcerated for many years and was chemically sterilized. They interviewed some guy who said that he was worried about Verse being released in his city because he had young daughters and who knew what a monster like Verse could do…
Except that Verse was an offender who stayed in his own age group and was a homosexual abuser…
Fucking morons.
I don’t have an answer for “why”, this happens, but if we aren’t going to treat people who are released from jail as fucking humans, we ought to give them all lifetime sentences, assuming that they will not be rehabilitated no matter what, and will always be “monsters”. It sickens me.

I was pissed off at this as well, so pissed in fact that I’ve decided that I’m going to make sure Ignacio De La Fuente (city council president in Oakland and rep for the Fruitale District) never serves another term in office. The asshole was responsible for the closing of a halfway house (as if we have plenty of resources for felons in Oakland) . He was also responsible for the priest running that halfway house being arrested of false “sex charges”. He’s planning on running for Mayor, I plan to actively help his opponent or run against him myself if I have to.
Totally off topic but I was looking for this Ian guy on Google and wandered over to a website about serial killers which has this bit about Henry Lee Lucas:
