The cool thing about the Dope is that while Google may offer an answer to your question, the Dope can offer a (usually) intelligent discussion regarding your question.

Bingo. I like to think of the dope as a bar with varied and generally smart people who would like to shoot the shit, with the shit being slightly better than the average shit that gets shot.
Yeah, I or they could hit the web or wikepedia, but half the fun of asking or answering an interesting question is the dicusssion phase.

Whenever someone posts incorrect, halfassed info (or snark), everyone has to drink a shot of your favorite poison.
So, to review:
– Only those deemed knowledgeable enough by ivn1188 to respond to a question with a 100% unassailably correct answer are allowed to respond to GQ threads. No conjecture or speculation (i.e. WAGs), debate, or further discussion allowed.
– But why bother, because only stupid people who don’t know how to use Google are asking questions anyway.
– The forums in which people can talk about films, music, food, art, TV, sports, philosophy, their families, life in general, and myriad other topics, are a waste of space and are for “tards.”
What a fun, fun, message board this will be when the administrators finally see the light and put ivn1188’s rules in place!

These are questions with a factual answer, and as such they belong in GQ.
The part I find amusing here is that the only two forums worth anything are GQ and the Pit, the two extreme ends of the Dope spectrum. You see, us non-tards either spend all our time in GQ discussing our disertation topics or expressing our righteous indignation of the government and that asshole that cut us off on the way to work in the morning. We just don’t have time for the luxuries that all you tards enjoy, like sports, music, movies, or God forbid random interactions with families and friends.
Seriously, sure, if people could have a bit of restraint on ignorant guesses at legal questions when they’ve never studied law, that would help some. But you know, as long as people mention their level of expertise, or complete lack thereof, I really don’t see how it hurts anything except maybe a little extra wear and tear on your scroll wheel. Also, the “fighting ignorance” argument is just silly. If someone is looking for an answer to a question and take the first response they can find without context or reason, then they’re already helpless.

And expressing our opinions is stupid because who’d care what we tards have to say anyway? Only other tards who should be off bettering themselves anyway.

Well, I know how ivn can single-handedly improve the board. There are subtleties to it, but the gist of it involves getting the fuck out.
Ok, now that everybody has got their own snide, ever so funny little comments out of the way, does anybody want to comment on the quite valid assertation that yes, GQ actually is diluted by mundane pointless musings that rarely answer the asked questions directly?
I always read with interest how somebody called “Manhattan” used to smack down anybody who didnt answer General Questions with direct facts. Seems like he had the right idea.
(And if we are complaining about forums today, can I complain about “Covered with bees” jumping first into every ATMB thread with what he thinks are incredibily funny and witty posts. They are never funny, and I am sure that those who post threads requesting serious answers dont really want some one trick pony making light of each issue just because he gets to be first to respond)
