I miss this show much I just want to hear some of those gems. Remember any, and if so, which were your favorites?
iMDB has some quotes.
“And we want our utensils back! No more sporks or spiknives or knifoons, it’s like a Doctor Seuss kitchen down there”
Andy- “Why don’t you just call him “New Andy” or call him ‘Black Andy?’”
Jessica- “We can’t go around calling somebody ‘Black Andy’!”
Hey, Wendy - Hi are you? I mean…fine!
“I heard that next year, there’s gonna be a new show called Keith and Wendy.”
“What?”
“On the History Channel?”
“You didn’t say that part!”
“It wasn’t about black people, it was about the Irish.”
“So, what’s the problem?”
“Take it all Bitch!”
Interesting side note: The summer after my sophomore year of highschool I was in a community production of Oliver!, which also starred 8th grader Irene Malloy as Nancy. Considering that Andy Richter is way too old for even someone my age, added to the fact that Irene Mallory in my mind is still 14 years old, it was kinda weird to watch him chasing after her every week. But the show was too damn funny so I had to keep watching anyway.
(Remeber barely)
Andy: I’ve always had trouble breaking up with women.
(cut to him sitting on the couch with an asian woman)
Andy: We can’t go out anymore because I’m gay…and your brother…and a ghost…woooooo.
Heh! You took my quote…since that’s the only episode I’ve ever paid attention to (lucky me.)
I just loved the Zoomanism episode, where they worshipped Zooman, the great sheep in the sky.
And there was one character (Keith?), sort of a blow-dried pretty-boy who always wore suits, who you would expect to play as a real counterpoint to Andy’s befuddled everyman role. But he was as big a goofball as the rest of them, which always amused me.
This was a great sitcom, so of course it didn’t last.
Was that the guy who was deeply ashamed of his tiny little feet?
When are they going to do a DVD release, anyway?
With so few episodes, I’m not holding my breath.
It could happen. The Tick came out on DVD late last year, and I believe it had an even shorter run.
“They’re not gonna make us do sports, are they?”
My fav character has to be Byron.
[On a business jet supposedly en route to Rio de Janiero] “Last night, I rented a documentary on Rio. Apparently, the girls there? They’ve gone wild.”
Also, my sig is from Byron.
My hope is that they will release a DVD, so I can erase the four episodes I’ve saved on my PVR and gain some more space for Arrested Development reruns this summer. (Parenthetical note: why do I bother falling in love with the most brilliant shows on the air, when they’re sitcoms from Fox and thus have a shorter life expectancy than heterosexuality in prison?)
Currently, episodes are appearing in high-definition on the HDNet satellite channel (they can do this since it was apparently filmed on film and then transferred to video). Hopefully, once they’ve (the producers) wrung all the cash they’re gonna get from HDNet, they’ll get around to creating a DVD release of all 19 episodes, including the five they never aired.
