I think Spike didn’t actually go blonde until the seventies, around the beginning of the punk rock era. Also if the spoilage I’ve read is any indication, Spike hasn’t actually become a Nazi in next weeks episode. Think Nazi proto-Initiative.
I’ve been worrying about this since, well, the beginning of the season. Gunn really seems to be enjoying his new powers of lawyerage and Gilbert and Sullivan way too much for my comfort.

He’s been shown as some form of blonde since the 1800’s when he was turned. Honey- or sandy-blond, certainly not bleached, but blond nonetheless. Definitely never jet black.
Yeah, William was a sandy blonde, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Spike pretty much changed his look throughout the 20th century and then settled on bleach-blonde for whatever read (Maybe Dru really, really liked it.)
JM’s natural hair color is either black or dark, dark brown. There’s been some disagreement, but he had pretty long roots this summer and i was close enough to examine then, and they looked black to me.
