Well, one thing about Joss Whedon’s world that has stayed constant through the spinoffiness, people still think that other people can’t deal with the whole truth. Y’know, this whole thing would have gone a lot smoother if they had just freakin’ told her everything from the get-go!
Fred is fast becoming the most adorable female on television, ranking only behind Willow (though I doubt she could ever top my favorite red-head). However, come to think of it, the image of her washing teeny brains out of her hair wasn’t all that adorable… Now the only thing I fear is the end of Fred-and-Gunn, 'cause this is Joss’s world and it’s definitely going to happen. It’s going to be heart-wrenching because Fred is so cute. The only metaphor I can come up with is that it is going to resemble watching someone punch a puppy.
It was nice of the Powers that Be to offer a Become a Higher Being, Get Free Implants to Cordy. Unless Charisma Carpenter is, as thirdshiftgrottoslack suggested, with child.
My favorite line of the night was Gunn’s “So, I look Russian to you?” and Cordy’s response of “Black Russian!”
Ooo, and one nit to pick. How’s come Angel went all bumpy-faced when she threw the rosaries into his hands? I mean, okay, pain, but he didn’t get like that when Buffy kissed him in Angel. Spike didn’t get his game face on and he hugged a huge cross!
Oh, and I’m just so happy that Lorne’s back. He’s so funny! “Listen, if this was about that lingerie, that was for a friend…” and “Uhm… Seabreeze?” Perfect!
As for Angel’s face thing, that time with Buffy, it was only one cross. This was a whole handful of crosses and rosary beads. And when Spike hugged the cross, he was expecting it to burn him. Angel didn’t realize what he was getting a handful of until it started burning him.
Now for my own nitpick: why would Cordy forget about the supernatural aspects of her life? I mean, yeah, she forgot that she’s part demon and has all sorts of mystical butt-kicking abilities, but why’d she forget basic facts of life of living in the Buffyverse? She didn’t forget about the exsistence of planes, or cars, or telephones. Why would she forget that vampires are real? Of course, since this seems to be freaky magic apocalypse amnesia she has, I suppose whatever wiped out here memories could have also selectively removed memories about the paranormal aspects of life.
Miller is correct (the willow-fred topping. It’s like a sinfull sundae…)
Just out of curiousity, did anyone else keep waiting for someone to reference “From beneath you it devours” or something? Is it complete co-incidence that both shows seem to be leading up to a massive conflageration of epic proportions?
BTW- loved the yearbook. Laughed my ass off.
Hee hee. Oh my, yes. That would be nii-iice. Once again, damn that “no-crossovers” rule! Damn it to Hell!
And pepperlandgirl: Pedophelia? Seriously??? Come on now. I know you hate Angel and everything, but try to have a little perspective here. Sex with a seventeen year old girl most emphatically does not qualify as “pedophelia” under any sane definition of the word.
Tristan, the really entertaining thing is that the yearbook is real. You can actually buy it - I saw several copies at a Waldenbooks about a year ago. Hugely funny.
Cordelia Chase would be 21 now, no? And Connor seems to be around 17-18. Maybe a little diferent at that age for the girl to be four years older than the guy, but certainly not icky.
However, it’s getting more and more difficult to believe Charisma Carpenter avtually being Cordy’s age, as the years pass. She’s 32 now and showing it.
It’s also improved her a lot to not be the bitchy teenager, but a grown, resourceful woman. She can be my higher being anytime.
I think for all of Angel’s broodyness and stoicism and soulfullness, he has less control over his demon half than Spike does. I think the demon is more likely to emerge when he’s excited/emotional/frightened/etc. (For example, the first time he kisses Buffy, he vamps. THe first time Buffy impales herself on Spike, he takes it all in stride.)
They could rationalize that with the whole “time moves faster in other dimensions” routine that turned Connor into a teenager. So now, she really is early 30s, not early 20s, because the 3-4 months in a higher plane aged her.
I believe that the reason Angel should his game face when he kissed Buffy was becuase he wanted her to know what he really was, not because he was excited.
