Bleh, the ending just blew it for me. Cordy and Conner, what a pathetic plot turn.
Other things in the episode were good, the final fight was well done and Angel with Lila was handled about right. Some good humor too. Overall though, the ending spoiled it for me.
Good points:
Spritz it with a little 409.
The first dead sparrow.
Gunn figuring out the puzzle.
The FX with Angel at the end of the fight.
Bad points:
Cordy and Conner, yech.
Fred becoming distant, she seems more likely to talk about it.
Cordy’s dream at the begining.
Cordy and Conner, double yech.
The Cordy/Conner thing doesn’t bother me that much. She’s having end of the world pity sex with him. As long as it doesn’t turn into an actual romance I won’t have a problem with it.
Wes is indeed a bad ass. A spin off with him and Giles would kick ass.
I liked Wes and Lilah’s interaction. “One day if I pray real hard and eat all my vegitables I may have hips.” and “Leave them on.” Those two are really, really twisted. Best relationship on TV I say. Not the most healthy but great fun to watch.
All in all I’m glad there was an Angel thread already started, I’m too jazzed up from the episode to do a coherent post like I usually attempt to. My only complaint is that there was no preview for the next episode.
Oh and as for Fred not wanting to talk about it I think that she was just freaked out and is still getting over it. After the waitress talk and indication of the end of the world I think she is ready to talk. It makes sense that she was withdrawn. She didn’t believe that Gunn had it in him at all. He isn’t the person she thought he was and she is having a hard time dealing with it. I think it would be nice if they worked it out and kept going. There needs to be a long lasting, somewhat healthy relationship in the Buffy-verse. I don’t count Riley’s marriage because his wife is clearly a Wife-Bot 3000 and not a real woman.
I just wanno know – fire is raining down on L.A. which, despite all the asphalt, is pretty much a tinder box – how come no fire engines and people running around extinguishing fires?
It’s about time the Joshverse got itself a real bad-assed demon. Although Angel et. al. still don’t seem red hot on what seems to me to be a pretty fundamental point – if bullets bounce off of something, then hitting it with your fists is likely to be pretty pointless.
I’m waiting for Lilah to piss Angel off and him to just break one of her arms or something. She treats him as harmless and that is just not sane or safe. I’m waiting for it to explode in her face.
As for people being outside during a rain of fire that sounds a lot like suicide. Once the fire stops raining maybe but during it I’m not sure if a lot of good can be done during the actual rain. I really hope at least a little mind is paid to how people are reacting to a rain of fire and the huge jump in supernatural activity.
Worst plot development ever for Angel– Cordy and Connor. Not even remotely believable. She goes from being disturbed at his advances and confessing love to Angel, to some lame “I felt what you did 200 yeras ago” and boning his kid. Stupid.
The amazing shifting Cordy is getting to be like Xander on last season’s Buffy, basically rewritten from episode to edisode with no continuity or believable reason for what they are doing.
This was simply a plot twist for the sake of having a plot twist.
Put me on the list for not liking the Cordy-Connor thing. I can’t figure why Cordy and Connor didn’t just go straight to the hotel to get the gang after meeting Mr. Nasty Demon. Ugh, I would have much preferred to have C&C hook up before she got her memory back, that would at least have made a little sense.
Next week is a “special” showing of The Wizard of Oz. Though I am really excited about Angel and wish they would actually show the next episode, Oz is one of my all-time favorite films, so I don’t mind watching it.
As for Cordy/Connor … well, I’m good at ignoring crap when I see it, so that whole business is just like watching an additional commercial for me - it’s playing, but I don’t have to pay attention. I just refocus when the whup-ass starts up again.
Ah, yes, and Fred. I don’t think that whole thing is as bad as it looks. I mean, we all knew Gunn had it in him, she should have seen the signs during the whole “I sold my soul for a car” thing. I mean, c’mon.
And I agree that Lilah doing the fantasy thing as Fred for Wes was both amusing and disturbing. I’m actually rather speachless about it.
Oh yea, forgot Lilah in the school girl outfit. That definately rates as a plus. I thought it was good seeing her vulnerable at the end, watching the rain of fire. She seemed pretty jealous of Wes’ attention to Fred, though. Is she falling for Wes?
If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time we’ve seen Charisma in tight clothes, this season. She had her bottom half covered in a blanket until she was about to go out and search, then she walked around in t-shirt. She looks about 4-5 months pregnant (WAG).
I think Cordelia is gonna save the world. Before she left for the higher plane, she was part demon. And considering what devil-guy (hoofs, no?) did to Angel, Gunn, Wes and Lorne, it was not like he would have had any trouble with Cordy and Connor. Yet he took off. There’s more to this than meets the eye.
Anybody have a clue about how long the hiatus is gonna be?
Hate, Hate, Hate, Cordy and Connor. If they get together, well that’s the end of Angel for me. I know it was pity, end of the world sex. She basically said so, but I just can’t understand why they went back to Connors place after they got beat up by the demon thingie. Earlier in the episode, she wants to tell Angel that this thing is coming but she just can’t find the words. He comes and talks to her, things are getting better, then after fighting the demon, the one Angel has no clue has already arrived, instead of going for reinforcements, she goes to Connors for a little bump and grind?!?
Doesn’t anybody in the angelverse learn that you can’t withhold valuable information? Wouldn’t it have been better to say “Hey, the demon thingie we are all scared of is here oh and by the way, he beat the crap out of Connor. Just FYI.”
I was so disgusted by Cordy/Connor, and poor Angel. I can only imagine how he felt… It’s the end of the world, I want to be near the only family I’ve got, my son and my girl, oops, they’re shagging. Maybe I should have called first.
I think Connor will be a sacrifice. They don’t really know what to do with his character besides the whole broody, I-hate-my-dad thing. And the demon came out of the ground where he was (sort of) born. I figure they’ll kill Connor and Angel will have something new to brood about. And raise your hand if eeww! Gouge my eyes out with a spoon! Incest, much?
We’ve been over this before. Cordy is 21, Connor is 18 (clearly stated in the ep.) Unusual, yes. Child abuse/ incest - no. And how would you explain calling it incest, BStGermain**?
Since CC is pregnant, they’re gonna write this into the show, and it’ll probably be Connors child. He’s set up for sacrifice, all right.
And please, can Andy Hallet get to be in the main titles allready?!
