Some of that is the fault of the network, which wanted more standalone episodes and less of an over-arcing storyline.
The entire season was movement on his path. His utter distraction from his original mission, his apparent loss of his destiny to a second vampire with a soul, his loss of Fred and Cordy, his re-dedication to his mission through the destruction of the Circle, the apparent final resolution of the Shonshu prophecy.
I really like Cordelia, and I hated what they did to her in season 4 - the whole sordid Cordy/Conner thing. Couldn’t they have done something else, anything else, to cover Charisma Carpenter’s pregnancy?
Yeah, but was there any good reason for Jasmine to be born from Cordelia? Couldn’t she have come from elsewhere? I think poor Cordy really got shafted in Season 4, plus nobody seems to miss her much during the first half of season 5 while she’s in a coma. I read somewhere that the showrunners were pretty pissed at Charisma for getting pregnant – I wonder if they took out some of that anger on the character? The touching farewell episode aside, I was a little upset by her treatment.
They used to have a 2-4 episode showing midnight’s every Wed and a 5 am showing every weekday with the two not in order. I was almost through watching the Buffy series on FX when I noticed the midnight shows had run it’s course and started from the beginning so I started recording them. they dumped the Wed shows halfway through and kept the 5am ones that had started from the beginning again and I had to wait a couple of weeks for the episodes to catch up to where I was. I watch it on Comcast Denver area.
I don’t know what i am going to do when it ends. Maybe look into Firefox with low expectations and maybe be pleasantly surprised even without Buffyverse. Or maybe Ill wait a year or so and buy the Buffy/Angel dvds and watch them in order.
What The Gaspode said in her (his?) first post. I thought it was awful when I first saw it, but it all works in hindisght. I just rewatched S4 this week and I think it may be my favorite season of Angel because of all the melodrama.
I’m just there for the Wesley, so S4 is just fine with me. (vague descriptions ahead, not so spoilery)
He got to work out some Sunnydale issues with a certain lass, had some monster practice with the shotgun, evil lawyer sex, and keep a hostage. Big swing’n ax!

Gavin zombie! Braaains!
But I really think they could have handled the how-to-hide-CC’s- belly issues better. They could have just hid her behind the front desk for a year and it would have been better. I guess they had to scramble to work it in the story. I’ll spare y’all my rantlet about the gender issues about Angel as a whole, mostly b/c it involves S5, but if I didn’t like the Cordy thing, you can probably guess the rest.
