Angel's Got His Own Show, He Deserves His Own Thread

I must dissent - the breakup made perfect sense, given Virginia’s character. She had lived an isolated, protected life, and, while she was cool with Wesley’s dangerous lifestyle when it was abstract, when Wesley got seriously hurt, it became real and she didn’t have the background to deal with it.

I was thinking of Holtz’s last words to the time demon as Holtz let Angel and Fred walk past him: “I promised I was not to show them any mercy. And I won’t.” I wonder what this means: That Holtz will mercilessly allow Angel to tackle single parenthood, only to stake him when Angel has had enough of it?

I thought about it, capacitator, and I’ve decided that the whole “I am now merciful” thing was just an act, part of Holtz’s greater plan to get Angel.

You gotta say one thing for being evil for a hundred and fifty years - you attract some interesting enemies.

I think Gunn sees himself as more of a big brother to Fred than a potential suitor. Fred and Wesley makes more sense, although after Billy, it’s going to be up to Fred to make the first move. I also see Angel and Cordy more as best friends a la Willow and Xander than lovers, and I think they both have enough sense to leave it at that. What with his curse and all, I think Angel is making a concious effort to never get over Buffy, because that way he’ll be less likely to ever fall in love with someone else and turn all evil again.

Let’s look at what’s in store for Angel the father:

  1. He gets to watch his son grow up, grow old, and die.
  2. He has to raise a son in a home that is only occasionally raided by SWAT teams and demons.
  3. He’s a single parent.
  4. Perhaps not the best role model in Christendom.
  5. Think Wolfram & Hart will find some way to make life uneasy for Angel the Father?

Merciful? I think not. #1 alone is a bitch to lay on someone. #2 is going to make Angel’s life a living hell.

I was thinking it would be tricky to find a wet nurse, but then I thought, if Angel can find blood to drink, how hard can hiring a wet nurse be?

Hire a wet nurse? I think he can probably buy formula.

My guess is that Angel’s son will grow up fairly quick due to some magic or something or other. He’s probably also very important to the story line so he will likely die at the end of the season. If he doesn’t I’m thinking he will become a permanent cast member.

As a new Buffyhead, but completely hooked to s sick degree, I’m now watching Angel, as of this week. And of course, I’m hopelessly confused and freaked out. Darla’s alive? (or was!) Darla was pregnant?

I posted this request in a Buffy thread as well…I’ll pay to borrow Angel episodes on tape, preferably from the beginning, preferably in order, since I imagine that Angel is just like Buffy in its soap-like linear storytelling.

You can contact me via email directly if you care to share.

Thanks!

Re: Angel & Cordy (blech)

I just thought of a funny Cordy line when someone asked her if she and Angel were together. “Ew, no! I like my men less broody and more spendy.” A relationship between them seems highly unlikely, especially on her side. I hope.

Stoid, it’ll make sense if they ever show old Angel reruns on FX like they are for Buffy. Here’s a summary: Wolfram and Hart brought her back - as a human. They had her running around, taunting Angel for a while, driving him nuts. Turns out she was dying of syphilus, which was about her kill her before she was turned vampy (she was a colonial prostitute). Angel finds out and is all set to be a caretaker for her until she dies, but Wolfram and Hart sends Drusilla to turn her into a vampire again. Then Dru and Darla go on a killing rampage that lasts several episodes and makes Angel go bonkers.

Not just dying of syphilis, but a syphilitic heart condition. I’m sure I don’t need to explain the irony.
