Angels

Not me. I love the Other Guy’s food cake.

Every time a bell rings, an angel spams a messageboard.

I’m just a newbee, so I had to look up the reference. So what are you saying? Did I mispell something?

I guess the whoosh is on me…

eta:apropos of nothing this is my first post from my iPhone.

What? An angel wouldn’t lie, still less one whose posting is personally approved by God!

Is it just me, or does ‘Angel Food Cake’ grate on your nerves too? It just seems so grammatically awkward and redundant.

I presume there is angel food fo some sort, and then you can make a cake out of it.
However, Dog Food and Dog Food cake would seem to have the same grammatical construct, and yet Dog Food Cake is pretty disgusting to contemplate eating.

That said, isn’t Mangetout “eats everything”?

Yeah, it must be something like that. Still feels wrong. Angel cake, Angel food, OK, Angel food cake, wrong.
It just stumbles off the tongue.

Not if you’re a dog. Then again, if you’re a dog, horse shit cake probably sounds appetising.

It certainly is.

The fallen, it seems, are much more adept at formatting what with the books, chapters, verses and such.

Either that or this proves once and for all that Grammar and Spelling are truly the purgative of Evil.

Ah, I see you’ve met my dog. ::barf::

You made a spelling error. You left the ‘e’ out of whether. Unless angels can make up there own words as they go. Or maybe you were just testing us, huh.

Your funny. I like you. Sorry I commented on your spelling, mine is bad to. And I’m not even an angel! Now I have to go and eat some ‘I’m not crazy’ cake.

Thank goodness the NT is written in Greek, then, or the whole “Jesus washes his disciples’ feet” thing would have had rather oogy implications.

Bow chicka bow chicka bow wow wah.

A few things:

Did the fall of the angels precede the winter of our discontent?

Are there any seemingly grassy knolls?

How are the efforts coming to get the angels unionized?

I’m not sure this fits with the tone of the thread, but that is one epic response Dex. Nicely done!

Not to ruffle any feathers, but is Dex the same person as CK Dexter Haven?

Will the angel return or is this a onetime visitation?

How do you feel about “Devil’s food cake”? Is that okay, or should I start calling it “Devil cake”?

Yep. Both is me.

That one seems to work a bit better anyway - partly because of the conspicuously possessive noun.

I think it’s probably because there are also such things as angel cakes, so angel food cake - even though it means cakes that are suitable for feeding angels - still sounds awkward - like there’s something called ‘food cake’, implying there are other, non-food types of cake too - perhaps lightweight throwing cake or automatic tire damage cake.
ETA: ‘Soft eating cake’ (appearing on a lot of baked goods from the Netherlands) strikes me in the same way - as if there must also be things like a (less popular) ‘Soft sleeping cake’…
