Anglican dopers: how much does a priest charge for a wedding?

I’m engaged to a lovely young lady and we plan to wed in the summer of 2004. While our wedding will be in Budapest, because it will be in Esperanto we will have to bring a Anglican priest from England (there probably aren’t Esperantists among the few Anglican priests on the continent). Obviously we must cover transportation and lodging, but how much of an honorarium do Anglican priests usually charge in addition to expenses? Does it depend on any factors like the size or length of the service?

Even the non-Anglican dopers may be able to help me out here, I don’t think one denomination is more expensive than other.

Its usually by donation to the parish. Around these parts a few hundred bucks is average, but I think that could vary drastically by geographic location. In addition, I think I would sweeten the pot since he is going to travel for you. Maybe ask him what would be appropriate? Be honest since you really have no clue. They’re usually pretty honest, good people.

When I got married at an Anglican church in 1992, there was no donation expected from members. And the priest made it clear that she wasn’t interested in officiating for non-members (don’t know if she would have stuck to that line if we’d pushed, but we didn’t). So, we attended that church for several months prior to the wedding. We paid the organist something like $40-50 Canadian, but that was it IIRC.

Whole different kettle of fish to drag one half-way across Europe, though.
