I’ve tried searching, but I can’t find anything. I’ve also tried google. Please help me find this!!!
A while back, there was a thread linking to an article about a woman (in Houston maybe?) who claimed to be an animal rescue shelter, but was being questioned and suspected by many of being an animal hoarder. She lived in a run-down house with a ton of animals, many of them sick or injured. There was no plumbing and possibly no electricity. People were really split down the middle as to whether or not she was unstable.
Can someone please help me find that article or that thread? I’m writing a paper about animal hoarding for a class, and I’d like to use it as a resource. Thanks in advance.
A quick search turned up this brief story from 2001 about a woman in Michigan – is this the case you’re talking about?
I also came across The Hoarding of Animals Research Consortium. You may know about them already, and/or the site might not be helpful, but I figured I’d pass it along just in case.
i recall reading something like that in a the houston press. maybe checking their archives?
I’;m pretty sure I saw somethign like that on Animal Cops Houston. The woman had over 60 dogs, numerous cats, many of both were sick. They didn’t (as I recall) mention that the woman had no indoor plumbing, but her daughter was bitten by one of the dogs. She wasn’t terribly concerned. In the end the Houston SPCA got most of the animals. The woman moved on, to the city, I think. There may be something on the Animal Planet website.

It was probably the article in the Houston Press about a woman named Toyya Braskey who runs a shelter for cats in her home. She’s thought to be a hoarder posing as a shelter owner by some, and praised as a animal rescuer by others. Here’s a link.
That’s it! I recognize that name now. Thank you so much, I searched like crazy to find that article. Thank you thank you thank you.
