animatrix

has there been any talk about the animatrix yet?

can anyone explain the runner story? it made no sense to me! did he push himself so hard he woke up? why did the agents care so much about keeping him down?

I think the one where they were recruiting robots added the most to the matrix universe as it showed the machines as totally independent of each other and made it clear they each had independent personalitys and emotions.

I think it was said at the start of “World Record” that although most people who are aware of the existence of the Matrix were told about it by others, a handful of people can find out all by themselves that ‘reality’ is not physically constraining - which is what happens to the runner in that short, of course. Personally, I wasn’t clear on whether he was mentally destroyed just by becoming aware of the Matrix, or whether the agents altered him in some way, to keep him from telling others or from furthur exploring his powers.

I think “Matriculation” was my least favourite of the bunch, actually. I liked the idea, it just seemed a little overlong. “Final Flight of the Osiris” wasn’t all that engaging either, I thought - very pretty though.

That said, I did like them all, when I saw them in the cinema a couple of weeks ago.

final flight seemed long to me also, but it was one that actually worked definitly as cannon to the movies since THAT was how they knew about the attack at the start of the second movie.

the world record one was very strange, the agents seemed like they put an awful lot of effort into stopping that guy, how did they know he would wake up?
