Ann B. Davis dead

I actually remember her best from Love That Bob.:)*

  • To the kiddies out there. The FCC had a rule that the syndicated version couldn’t have the same name as the primetime version as long as the latter was airing. Sometimes they wouldn’t bother changing back the title after the show was canceled and the reruns continued under the other name. I never saw The Bob Cummings Show when new, just the reruns.

There was one episode where, IIRC, some Air Force airmen had fallen in love with a photograph of someone after seeing only her legs and wanted to know whose legs they were, but when Schultzy told Bob they were mannequin legs, Bob got her to pretend that they were hers. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything in the list of titles that would point to this particular episode.

Note that the show was called Love That Bob in syndication.

I watched The Brady Bunch a lot back in the day, and always liked Alice for her take-no-guff brisk efficiency - but you could tell she loved the six kids. A little crusty on the outside; definitely a marshmallow inside.

She came and spoke at a church near my college in the mid-Eighties. I didn’t go, but the student newspaper had an article and a short interview which began something like, “You can tell that Ann B. Davis is sick to death about questions about The Brady Bunch.” She wanted to talk about her faith journey and her charitable good works, not an old TV show.
