Annoying children's song in "The Birds"

It’s the song the children are singing in the school while Tippi Hedren is sitting on the bench with the birds flocking behind her.

Does anybody know the lyrics?

nope, and if i did, I wouldn’t want to type it ALL out. But i don’t so…

It’s called ‘This Old Man’, and I am too tired (read: lazy and ignorant) to provide a link to the lyrics.

I do so hope this helps.

I don’t want ALL the lyrics, just an idea as to what it’s about.

hippity hoppity bippity boppity hippity hoppity bow wow wow

Thank you for putting that damn song into my head.

BTW, I was going to search for a link, but I was so disturbed by the results after typing “hippity hoppity” + hitchcock into Google that I stopped.

No, it isn’t “This Old Man”. I used to sing that when I was a kid. The chorus:

With a knick knack paddywack
Give the dog a bone
This old man came rolling home

The roundelay song from The Birds is called “Risselty-Rosselty”

I married me a wife in the month of June,
Risselty-rosselty now, now, now !
I carried her home in a silver spoon,
Risselty-rosselty, hey bom-bosselty,
Nicklety, knacklety, rustical quality,
Willaby-wallaby now, now, now !

She swept the floor but once a year
She swore her brooms were all too dear

She combed her hair but once a year
At every rake she shed a tear

She churned the butter in dad’s old boot
And for a dash she used her foot

The butter came out a grisly grey
The cheese took legs and ran away

The butter and cheese are on the shelf
If you want any more, you can sing it yourself

It’s also known as the Scottish folk song “The Wee Cooper O’ Fife”:

The last time I caught “The Birds” on T.V., I turned the caption on during the song.
It read;

(gibberish)…(gibberish)… Now, now, now.

Great. Now whenever I go to the beach at Bodega Bay I’m gonna hear that song. Creepy.
