Another antigay pastor is outed.

Not all anti-gay people are closeted gays. I am quite confident that a large percentage of these guys followers are straight people who just hate gays. There is plenty of anit-gay sentiment out there. The closeted ones are the ones who assume that since they are wrestling with gay feeling everyone else must be too. As Merijeek pointed out, normal straight guys do not spend any time during the day thinking about gay urges.

I watched OUTRAGE for the first time this weekend also. This is becoming an Og-damned joke. I’m starting to wonder if it’s confined to anti-gay rhetoric: how many members of HUAC were Communists or how many members of PETA are baby seal clubbing chili cookoff winners.

I’m sure an awful lot of misogynists are attracted to women. I think that’s a big part of homophobic homos. I honestly think a lot of these people believe that this temptation (for sex with men, or women) is what prevents them from being perfect, from having full control over their lives, and they hate themselves for it, so they turn that hatred outwards.

Or even worse they see people who are happy with being gay. Envy combined with guilt can be a horrible combination.

At the same time I don’t think there is necessarily any contradiction between thinking something is wrong/evil and still feeling irresistable urges to do it. Pedophilia would be an obvious example of undeniably wrong sexual urges and I find it hard to believe that most perpetrators don’t realise this, but they can’t help it. Just because someone is gay doesn’t mean they can’t trully (and wrongly) think it’s evil.

People like that are much more worthy of pity than hate IMO.

Seeing as PETA paid someone to club baby seals for a video and that’s how that meme got started, you may well be on to something.

I have plenty of pity for the self loathing closeted gays who limit it to that; I know religion and family and social mores can be pretty damned heavy baggage. For the self loathing gays who ACTIVELY seek to persecute other gays however I have little but loathing.

Er, no. Brock has professed the position that gays ought not to be preachers. Brock is a preacher. Brock is (deny it though he may) gay. QED.
