Oh, Shirley. I am so, so sorry. Not just for the latest news, but for the whole damn thing. You and your family have been through more than any family should be asked to endure.
Please talk to the attending MD about the DNR order. As far as I am aware, your brother (or your mother if he is unable) to specify what you want and don’t want–no vent, no PEG tubes and tube feeding, or whatever combination suits him. I have known people who have said yes to hydration, but no to feeding and antibiotics, yes to all those, but no to a vent, etc. He should have the right to have control over what little can be controlled.
