I’ve seen a lot of these videos, but this is the first one that made me tear up a little.
You can see a range of emotions the dog is going through, that’s they way I interpret it anyways.
Man’s best friend indeed.

That is awesome!
I know the joke is that dogs can’t distinguish between short and long passages of time (dog greets you at the door like crazy after you return from the grocery store; ergo, if you’re feeling down, go hide in the closet for 5 minutes, then emerge and get a wild greeting), but seeing stuff like this, I think dogs probably have a “you were gone (5 minutes, a work day, a weekend)” level versus a “holy shit, you were really really gone (for months)!” level of distinguishing between time durations.
I swear, it sounds like that dog is doing a doggie equivalent of sobbing with joy.
I’ve never heard a dog vocalize so much. So sweet!!
It’s like she’s letting out six months of sad all at once.
Sweet doggie.
That’s beautiful. You can hear her saying “Daddy, I thought you’d never come back! You were gone for sooooo long! And omgdaddyomgOMGYOUAREHOME!!!”
Thanks for sharing. These videos are always the best
“And then this happened and that happened and I was like and you were SO not here and I thought you weren’t ever and then it was all…”
Our dogs can’t tell time. Both of them go crazy every night when mommy gets home. Or when they see my BFF every month or so.
They run to the door, start barking madly, jumping, wailing, and then when they (wife or my buddy) get inside, they’re like little Compysattacking and jumping. Full speed ahead. Every single day.
When I get home? They barely look up. Perhaps I’ll start kicking them less…
I recently went out of town and left my dog, Bailey, with my sister. When I dropped her off and left, my sis said they eventually had to put a leash on her to pull her away from the front door, where she was fixated, waiting for me to come back in. When I eventually did come back two weeks later, Bailey reacted in much the same way as the dog in this video. She kept whining and jumping on me and pressing up against me as much as she could. So funny and heartwarming.
