Another filmed police encounter (Hammond, IN)

Sorry, no engagement for you, troll.

Then we agree that the suspects were insane for forcing the cops to do that.

I’d ask smapti if the cops should feel remorse for hassling innocent citizens. Tasing may not be as flagrant an offense as forgetting a seatbelt, but what is the threshold for remorse?

I Googled but it wasn’t clear how that story ended. They were arrested and charged with obstruction. Were they booked? Was the baby left in the care of its mother during booking?

Acts of willing corruption or malfeasance, or unwarranted use of force against a genuine innocent.

I’m losing faith that you believe what you’re saying here.

I meant what I said and I said what I meant. (An elephant faithful 100 percent.)

If you think I’m trolling, you’re wrong.

Now you’re just making shit up. The passenger repeatedly asked if they could just be handed the ticket already and allowed to go on their way. No effort to evade shit, you lying fuckhead.

I don’t know. I mean, it’s hard to square the stupidity of that. Nobody forced the cops to point guns at two children. The guy did what they asked and they aimed guns at them. It’s the same thing as the gas station shooting. Only an insane person would say the cops were forced to do that. They chose to. And why say “Probably” to that question about deserving whatever we get? The answer (for you) is obviously yes.

And the cops told them no and asked them to step out of the car. Why did they continue to evade?

When were guns ever pointed “at” two children?

The cops never asked him to reach into a bag without explaining why.

Can’t you try and do a better job of not lying? You’re constantly challenged on factual stuff, and you don’t even try to defend yourself. Constant lying and then immediate changes of subject.

They both got out of the car after about five minutes and were arrested on “obstruction” charges, then later released (it doesn’t say whether it was ROR or on bail). Sandusky police Assistant Chief Phil Frost has been ordered by the prosecuting attorney to investigate and provide her with a detailed report of the incident. In the meantime, though he hasn’t filed a formal complaint yet, Stockett appeared at a preliminary hearing last week and says he plans to file suit. (Source)

Whenever one of these situations crops up, a fair number of people respond, “Just do whatever the cop says, and none of this happens.” This is undoubtedly true. I grew up in LA and learned pretty quickly that if you get pulled over for anything, your best bet is to submit, shut the fuck up, and hope for the best. Basically the same approach as if you encounter a wild bear.

As an adult I lived for a while in Germany, and I was surprised to find the police to be polite and respectful. I was still subservient out of habit, but they didn’t seem to require it. Considering the history of the last eighty years or so, it’s surprising to think I’d rather be policed by Germans than Americans.

Fucktard, it was the cops who were evading. They could have handed her a ticket and gone the fuck away, which is what should have happened. But they kept evading doing their fucking job just so they could harass an innocent civilian minding his own damn business riding in the passenger seat of a car. Lying sack of pus.

If he was so innocent, why didn’t he get out of the car?

Well, that sucked. Seems like a nice family.

But can someone answer a couple questions for me:

  1. Do we know how long before the video began the episode started? Was it another minute or two? Ten? Twenty?

  2. What is the law and what is the recommended police procedure regarding requesting that a passenger show identification after a traffic stop?

Anyone have this info. I read the thread, and the linked article, but maybe I missed something.

V.

Judging from the responses in this thread, the proper way to react if you encounter a wild bear is to loudly proclaim your freedoms and insist that it has no right to maul you - and if it does, well, that’s the bear’s fault for being anthrophobic.

Now you don’t know how guns work? Or is it bullets you don’t understand?

Again- you say you think cops are psychos who are playing Simon Says with the public, and anyone who doesn’t anticipate their whims deserves to be threatened with death.

Here’s an MSNBC article about the incident. It does contradict some of the points from the article in the OP, but people who want to rationally discuss the facts might still find it interesting.

And with this little nugget you prove you know jack shit about the Constitution of the United States of America. You’re really a piece of work. Cuck-for-brains.

Hikers are often advised to make noise to scare off bears. So… yes, unlike everything else you have ever said, this is basically correct.
