Seriously, Santa Barbara is always on fire. November is when we had our last big one, July prior to that.
What’s funny about this one is yesterday it seemed fairly small, it wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary, but today the wind kicked up to around 60 knots and brought it out of control. They are saying 0% containment as of now. Luckily for me, I live in Goleta on the other side of the freeway.
But yeah, people need to stop looking at the pretty fire and pay attention to driving. It’s not going anywhere. Ok, probably to someone’s home, but still, quit trying to take pictures with one hand and steer with the other. Yes, it’s pretty. Yes, it’s a good reminder that we’re still Mother Nature’s bitch. Doesn’t matter though, driving and not crashing into me is way more important than looking at the pretty fire.
Yesterday evening it was a bit wild, but looked like it had been taken care of this morning. Then around 3 this afternoon, the wind stepped up and it came back with a vengeance.
What’s the best source of info you guys have found, without TV? Not that anybody really seems to know what’s going on at all, and everything changes so quickly that information is outdated as soon as it’s posted.
I just typed “fire Santa barbara” into Google and the second link was to one of the news station’s website. As you said, even the some of the info is spotty, but it does offer updated maps and stuff.
