Another ? for the ladies- re: birkenstocks

Absolutely! Tevas aren’t as bad as Birkenstocks, which should be eradicated from the face of the earth as the single ugliest thing ever to be put on the human body. If your feet are too lumpen to fit into regular shoes… you’ve got problems and I don’t want to date you.

 I just bought my guy a new pair of black steel-toes for his birthday. He only wears black steel-toed boots and they are so incredibly sexy… droooooool.

Oh, and I forgot to add:

“Nice boots. Wanna fuck?”

Mmmmm…boots…

Course I’d only wear ankle boots since any other kind would be too uncomfortable.

Picky? yup.

Men with sandals? Hell yeah!

An this is from a girl who hates feet. From my experience men who wear birks etc are generally laid back, relaxed, sporty, have nice legs and purdy feet

As for the socks & sandals thing - it isn’t good but it certainly isn’t a deal breaker.

I first noticed my boyfriend when he walked down the street by where I was working at the time: black trenchcoat, black jeans, black stompy boots, shaved head. Wow, I thought, there’s actually someone cool in this pitiful town! (Besides me, of course. )

I’d take a guy in Tevas/Birks over a guy in sneakers any day. I just hate sneakers, yuck. Unless you’re working out the only decent looking athletic shoes are Sambas. JMHO, o’ course, wear any damn thing you like.

Now a guy in steel toe wingtips or boots, mmmmmm.

See now, men in boots make me cringe. Sandals or mandals? – ;)trishdish – are fine with me! I’ve lived in sandals all my life. It’s about time the boys got with the program too. After I bought my first pair of Birks, my hubbie went out and got himself a pair too.

I count myself as a minority of one who doesn’t run screaming into the night at the sight of sandals, socks and shorts, necessarily. Dress how you like, not for others. That’s my mantra, anyway.

Don’t tell anyone, but I have big feet and if I want a comfortable, reasonably priced pair of sandals, I have to shop in the men’s shoe department. Target has some nice sandals. Not fancy, but comfortable. I should get a pedicure, though.

But you’re ruining my scenery! :stuck_out_tongue:

<shrug> All I can say is that “dressing how you like”, for some of us, means looking good. Style can make an ordinary-looking person look magnificent.

But Squish, to some of us, mandals are great “style.” I’ll take a guy who looks like he is ready to go on a river trip over a guy who looks ready to go to a nightclub any day.

Well, there ya go: the difference is as night and day! Although to be fair, my b/f and I spend a fair amount of time in the back country and find sturdy steel-toed stompy boots excellent for trudging around out with the snakes, scorpions, brush and rocks.

My only pair of shoes is a pair of vegetarian Birkenstock Milanos (2 straps across the top, one behind the ankle). I wear them without socks in the summer, and with socks in the winter. It never even occurred to me that people might think that it was weird, or that it was even weirder or unacceptable on a guy. WTF?

Well, I guess a lot of ladies here wouldn’t like me in the summer. If it’s not raining, and I’m not in the woods or something (or someplace very cold), I’m always in my Birks. I have the suede two strap kind…they’re so damn comfy, I go nowhere without them. Now, wear socks with them? No.

Jman

I have a foot fetish, so shoes are at the top of the list when choosing a man… tevas and birks are right there with missing teeth and no job… maybe worse. I don’t know what it is, it’s the epitomy of having no style whatsoever. I am NO slave to fashion, but can say that those shoes just don’t do a body good. What’s worse is when the cork on the birks get all worn down after 9 years of wearing them everyday and they get all slanty and flat… and they still wear the damn things ouch

i love a guy in sandals. especially tevas

Damn! Damn you all! I’m wearing my Birkenstocks tomorrow no matter what!

I love Birks, and turned Mr. Jane onto them myself. He had previously considered them the dorky shoes his mom wore to work at the hospital, but after trying some on at my insistance he asked for a pair for Christmas.

I think most other sandals are fine on guys too as long as they don’t have Hobbit toes or anything. I do have a thing about cheap shoes of any kind though - no K-Mart sandals like my dad rides the mower wearing.

As for socks with Birks, I think girls can pull it off a lot easier. As someone mentioned before, toe socks are kinda cute with them and I am guilty of doing that myself, even after it’s too cold. I think white socks look ridiculous with sandals of any kind, but are the only acceptable thing to wear with sneakers.

Birkies are one of the most comfortable things you can put on your feet. I’m no shoe lover. I take off my shoes when in the house or any time I’m sitting down. I sit on my feet and doing that with shoes on is very uncomfortable. I hate wearing shoes. The reason that I like Birkies so much is that they feel the closest to wearing no shoes at all. I wear socks with them if it is cold. I think they are kinda ugly shoes, and uglier with socks, but their looks are not why I wear them.
