I’m sick of these direct hits. We just got rid of the last of the rainwater from Alex. The only good thing is I doubt we’ll lose any power or water, as everything that might have been broken off and sent on a lethal trajectory already has…
I grew up in New Mexico (Massive forest fires, missile proving grounds next door.) Hawaii (Active volcano, earthquakes, too much rain), and Colorado (120+ MPH Chinook winds and hellish winter blizzards).
Now, I live a short drive from one of the best beaches in North America. And it never gets cold in winter. Life without snow is amazing.
Hey, are you guys familiar with Wundermap? Of course it’s good for hurricane season but really anytime you’re preparaing for precipitation it’s a great tool. As someone that works in the yard a lot and likes to know if it’ll rain and exactly when, it helps me fine tune the prediction. Essentially, it’s a transparent Doppler image set on top of Google Maps. You can enter your address to center it, then zoom in and out, change the opacity, scroll up or down, etc. Check it out.
Darth, where are you again? Vacationing away from Houston we got hit yesterday with some pretty good bands and it’s raining hard right now. We expect about 4 inches total though, nothing major. Hope you fare well.
I’m almost exactly halfway between McAllen and Harlingen, one block south of old 83. Excuse me for a moment, lieu, I need to vent.
Hey, garygnu, of the places I listed living in above-- The safest was Boulder, which is now on fire, it seems.
You’re in San Jose, right? How are things over there in freakin’ earthquake country?
Everyone that died in Haiti? They should have just moved to New Zealand, where earthquakes don’t kill people, right?
And when the big one really hits y’all?
It’s against the rules of this board to wish death upon another poster, damn it.
