Another {heavy sigh} driving rant

We’re driving along yesterday, and we hear a siren. All drivers know what hearing a siren means, right? It means look all around you to find out where the siren is coming from and do whatever you have to do to get out of its way if it’s coming your way. It does not mean PULL AROUND OUR FREAKIN’ CAR AND CUT OFF THE POLICE CAR SO HE HAS TO SLAM ON HIS BRAKES AND HONK AT YOU WHEN WE SLOW DOWN FOR HIM TO GO BY!!!

This person of questionable intelligence nearly caused a four-car pile-up because he couldn’t wait 5 seconds for the police car to go by and us to resume normal speed again. And this wasn’t a police car coming out of nowhere - we had been hearing the siren for a couple of minutes at this point. How can people even drive with their heads stuck so far up their asses?

This just reminded me of the other day when I was sitting waiting to make a left turn when an ambulance went through the intersection. Everyone else was stopped/pulled over/gotten out of the way except for one POQI who actually drove around the ambulance to get through the intersection. Mama mia, what the hell’s wrong with people?

Clearly, these people are far more important than the police or the ambulances. Their exalted status gives them the right to cut off whomever they choose, regardless of sirens or pretty lights, so they can get to work on time or go shopping or do what they need to do. You’re the one with the problem, because you didn’t clearly recognize how important these people are in the first place. You should have been pulling over to let them by, not the stupid police car. What’s with those lights and sirens, anyway? Ostentatious.

Did you know that in D.C., firetrucks and ambulances, even with lights and sirens blaring, have to pull over and wait for presidential motorcades to pass? Now THAT’S special. I’ll tell you, if they were on their way to MY house and that happened, I’d be going postal pretty quick.

But, I mean, who owns the road? Those silly emergency vehicles, going to help somebody ELSE? featherlou, you clearly need to reevaluate the order of importance of things in this world. If it’s not about ME, why should I care if it’s going to help someone ELSE?
