I have been going crazy tying to remember this song and artist. It’s from the 80s( anyone other than me bothered that that was 10 YEARS AGO!!!) It’s a mostly spoken word song. Here are some of the lyrics I remember:
“If I’m jumping the gun, please ignore my request. Let’s take off our clothes and put this love to the test.”
" i wish I could find, how to read your mind. Even though I’ve known you for some time…"
“I don’t suppose we could take off our clothes and put this love to the test.”
Can anyone help me?
Cheers, and thanks,
Dave
Could it be “put this love to the test” by John Astley?
(ca. 1988)
To add to KP’s post, Jon Astley of Manchester, England (not to be confused with Rick Astley) got to #74 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in Oct., 1988 with “Put This Love to the Test”. (Off hand I don’t remember the song, although I do remember a second minor hit he had a year earlier, “Jane’s Getting Serious”.)
Damn! 8 minutes! I guess it’s true, dopers DO know everything! Thanks!
Anyone know if this John Astley is any relation to Rick Astley? I only ask because I believe Rick is from Earlstown in England, not far from from Manchester. Last time I was there (although 10-12 years ago), there was a club called, “Astley’s” there and someone told me that he owned it.
Full Name: Richard Paul Astley
Birthdate: 2/6/66
Birthplace: Newton-Le Willows,England
Siblings: 1 sister, Jayne, 2 brothers, John & Mike (all older)
I remember kinda liking this song, until they started pimping Heinz Ketchup with this playing in the background.
