Another "Help me identify this song" thread (a real long shot)

I was shopping at an Asian supermarket this afternoon when an absolutely beautiful song came over the sound system. I have no idea who the artist was or what language she was singing in (if I had to guess, I’d say Vietnamese or Tagalog, rather than Chinese or Japanese), but both she and the song were reminiscent of this 1970 Eurosong entry:

The melody was very gentle, almost like a lullabye, and the last few bars sounded a little like the ending *"I've been to paradise ... but I've never been to me."*

Written in 4/4 time, the melody went like this:

La, la-la la, la-la la, la-la laaa; la la-la la la, la la-la laaa…

I suspect this isn’t enough, so I’ll see if I can get some notes to go with the rhythm.

Rhythm:

That’s too much like hard work. Can you not just record it or save it out as a file to listen to?

Surely the easiest way to resolve this would be to re-visit the supermarket you shopped in today and ask about their playlist?

In any case, here are some Asian music playlists for commercial background music. One of them, Tian Zhi Da, sounds to me a bit like what you seem to be talking about. It’s in 3/4 time rather than in 4/4, but then, so is the Eurovision song you compared it to.

I may do this next week, if I have the time. It may be more difficult than you think, since the English skills of the staff generally leave something to be desired (seriously).

Nice song, but that’s not it. If I had the time or the inclination, I’d go through the thousands of Asian songs on YouTube.

Not an Asian version of “INBTM.” It’s just the last few bars of the melody that are reminiscent.

Can you recommend a website for this?
