Of course I would. And if I could afford to pay my employees for time when they generated no income I’d be thrilled to serve on a jury. When I go on vacation many of my employees take theirs simultaneously. A few others do cleaning, etc and are paid.
Are you suggesting I have a duty to suffer financially in order to serve?
I am a long time supporter of NORML. I’d much rather give that money to a charity like a local food bank, which further pisses me off. I like to think of the happy folks in Colorado benefiting from my support.
Thank you for this information Alley Dweller. I’m always worried about missing Pace busses because they don’t run very often. This cuts out one step and I appreciate that.
In most states that I know of marijuana possession is a minor offense and will not be a jury trial. I guess it’s remotely possible that you may be picked to be a juror on a trial of someone dealing large amounts. But probably not. So you want to get out of being on any jury because of that?
Here in Texas, citizens are permitted to volunteer for service on the GRAND jury (the jury that hears cases and decides if there is sufficient evidence for a case to be bound over for trial) once every six months. My mother has served several times. No volunteering for service as a petit juror, though.
