A lone-wolf attack on a movie-theater audience is just random craziness . . . an attack on a PP clinic or a Sikh temple or a liberal Congresscritter or an IRS office at least has political motives of a kind we’re all familiar with . . . but what the Hell is this?!

Police are now looking for a black SUV that fled the scene. “It is unclear if the people inside the vehicle are witnesses or suspects.”
PP is almost a mile and a half away. These guys were not aiming for Planned Parenthood.

Another day, another mass shooting in the USA. Ho-Hum. Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up with some enthusiasm for this country.
I haven’t seen it mentioned in the thread yet. There are reports (including a phone call I just heard with the father of one of the people who was present during the shooting) that the shooting occurred in a room where a San Bernardino County holiday party was taking place. News anchors were speculating about the shooting possibly being motivated by a disgruntled employee, but the father pointed out (accurately, in my opinion) that it’s hard to imagine a disgruntled former employee rounding up two other shooters (or that three disgruntled people colluded for this).
As usual I want to remind everyone this is not The Pit or Great Debates. If you want to debate gun control or rant about terrorism we are well equipped for that. Just not in MPSIMS. No threadshitting or hijacking. If you want to discuss the facts as they come in stay right here. Most of you know that already I’m sure.

I don’t believe a quarter of the first reports that hit the news. But it is disturbing that there are reports that suspects have fled the area before police arrived. It suggests a well planned attack rather than a crazy guy with a gun. Granted, those reports can be totally wrong but that is what is on both CNN and Fox now.
If it’s terrorism related they would do it to anger the US into an error in its reaction.
We don’t yet know all the facts but it is worth noting that when shootings like this happen it is sometimes the case that witnesses report multiple shooters when in fact there is only one.
A banquet for county personnel, apparently. It feels like a disgruntled emploee, but I agree the multiple shooters is a strange aspect.
That is just the type of pejorative racist comment we need to avoid.
Please be kind and not make any assumptions on a 3 man heavily armed shooting team dressed in black wearing masks.
