This is more than just “another moderator retirement”! Dex has been—well, what TubaDiva said in the OP. He will be missed in his official capacity, and I hope he sticks around in an unofficial capacity for many years to come.
I once volunteered to write something or other as a report, and Dex answered me! He turned it down, but that’s SD’s loss. I like him a lot.

Dex was one of the first people I remember from my first contact with this place. He brought class and wit and an all-round general welcoming feel. He’s one of the reasons I signed up and have hung around for so long.
I hope that this is just the jackboots coming off and that Dex continues to post.

Judging by ATMB sometimes, I may be an exception; I joined mostly because of the moderators and how well they did/do their jobs. A far cry from many places I hit where 15 posters were only three different people and folks would argue with their own sockpuppets just because they could. And where most debates ended in “Jane you ignorant slut”. Dex is one of the first three who caught my eye and impressed me and he’ll be a tough pair of jackboots to fill.
