Another Pressing legal Question!

I just took my stepson to the skateboard park-the city I live in has converted part of a baseball field into a skateboard park-with a half-pipe, and various other ways to break your neck. I noticed all kinds of kids playing with their boards-and almost none of them had helmets, elbow or knee gaurds on!
To me, this park is a lawyer’s dream! I can see some 10-year old goes to the skate park, attempts a 360 degree roll, and lands on his head! He fractures a vertibrae in his neck, and is paralyzed for life. The next thing, the city is sued for 10 million dollars…
Why would any city government knowingly open a skatepark? It seesm like they are just asking for a lawsuit…lawyers…what’s your take on this?:smack:

IANAL, but…

are there any signs posted stating that skaters skate at their own risk? I would think if there were, then the city is absolved of responsibility.

Again, IANAL.
