Who Gets Sued in Skateboarder Accidents?

I was just watching SpikeTV…they were showing some idiotic kids and accidents causedby “extreme” skateboarding. There wasone kid in SF, who attempted to ride along a wall-and fell off (down 30 feet to a concrete floor)-he survived. Another kis attempted to slide down a railing-he shattered his leg in 3 places, and farctured his pelvis. On and on it went…broken noses, fractured skulls, broken arms, etc. My question: when these moron’s parents go out shopping for a lawyer, who do they sue? So little Johhny doesn’t think the laws of physics apply to him…are the property owners liable? or has somebody figured out that skateboards should come with warning labels?
Oh, and I just saw a Toyota truck commercial…it had just about the funniest disclamer I’ve seen so far…a bunch of young men drive throgh the jungle to a waterfall-they stop, admire, and excplaim “this has got to be done”-sure enough, they all dive off the top into the pool!

Anyone can file a lawsuit. That doesn’t necessarily mean it has any merit.

Why are you so sure that they immediately go out and sue? Is Litigation so rife that it is automatically assumed?

Shouldn’t be. My son skateboards and there is no way I would sue anyone in those situations. It’s nobody’s fault but his own if he gets hurt falling off a 30 foot high wall, and he doesn’t need a warning label to let him know it’s dangerous.

That’s the exactly right attitude to have. I doff my cap to you.

If boarders are at all like motocrossers then every single broken bone is a bragging right.

I think the skateboard companies would argue that those activities are essentially “off-label” uses, and not what the product was intended for. So it’s not their problem if you get hurt doing it. OTOH, if a wheel fell off while you were riding down the street, and you fell and broke your arm, then you might have a case.
