Another Puff the Magic Dragon question

Was the first Puff a C-47?
Some jerk talk show guy claimed that Puff in Vietnam played Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries”. I think he was mixing fact with the movie “Apocolypse Now” and Robert Duvall’s helicopters.
