I’m planning on getting a new tattoo next weekend. What does that have to do with undergarments? Well, I’m getting to it.
The tattoo will be on the back of my left shoulder, right where my bra strap normally goes. Easily remedied, thinks I, I’ll just get a racerback bra to wear until it heals.
Yeah, right. Apparently, even Target thinks that nobody above a C-cup could possibly want to wear a racerback bra that isn’t a uniboob sports model. Don’t even get me started on the look the Victoria’s Secret salesgirl gave me when I asked her for anything bigger than a B.
Really, I’m just angry I had to order one and pay shipping, therefore I must bitch about it. Hear Drae bitch. Bitch, Drae, bitch!
Maybe you’re thinking about this the wrong way. If the tattoo is going to be obscured by a bra strap most of the time, maybe you should jog it to the left or right a bit.
This is an easy one. Just go bra-less for a couple of weeks. Sheesh.
But make sure you wear something sheer and then take and post pics, if you don’t mind. Simple solution, really.
Yeah, I put that badly. It won’t be obscured, really, it’ll be just to the outside of the bra strap. But historically for me, the skin around a new tattoo is tender for a few days, and because I have virtually no shoulders, my bra straps tend to slip. I’d rather avoid it, if at all possible.
Forgive my ignorance of the women’s undergarment market, but don’t they make strapless bras? I know they’re normally used under evening gowns or with other bare-shoulder styles, but wouldn’t that be a solution?
Oh yes, they make strapless–but it’s harder to find a good strapless than it is to find the racerback. Any strapless bra I’ve ever owned has either been a full-length corset that will be incredibly uncomfortable to wear for a week or so, or utterly ineffective. They make strapless bras in larger sizes, but they obviously don’t test them.
If OP is bigger than a C, not wearing a bra, or wearing a strapless bra is not an option. She’ll be saggy and sore by noon. By the end of the second day, her pectorals will be barking and her back will be a mess.
Now a long-line strapless, or better yet a corset, would be ideal. But you’d probably have to order one of those online anyway. I share your pain with the sucky selection of specialty bras in stores.
Not to mention the three flights of stairs I have to take at least four times a day–sometimes at high speed. I could actually knock myself unconscious, I think.
I’m not sure how much bigger then a C the OP is, but I am a D and have quite a few, very effective strapless bras and racer backs.
Have you tried Lane Bryant? They have a lot of styles (cute styles, too- if that matters to you :)) and the prices aren’t rediculous. If I recall, they sell 34 C’s and up; in fact, they may even have B, but that doesn’t apply to us, does it? Anyway, they have a GREAT convertable bra- you can switch the straps from racer back to halter to regular to strapless. It holds up wonderfully and is very comfy.
