Another Reservior Dog Question

When I was watching R.D., it reminded me of a movie I saw a long time ago called “Day of the Wolves”. Anyone remember it? It starred Jan Murray, and was about some criminals that robbed all of the banks in a town. The criminals all had numbers, and only knew themselves by their assigned number. The color scheme that Q. T. used was very similar and I wondered if he ripped it off. I did a search, and couldn’t find any reference by Q. T. that he did. Any one know?

Also, does anyone know where I can find a copy of “Day of the Wolves”? Again, a search didn’t get me anywhere. I did find some information about it on the IMDB, but an obscure, out of print movie is tough to find.

Max

I suspect he’d rather use the term “took inspiration from” than “ripped off.”

Besides, you might want to take a look at the names of the bad guys from The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3

The colour scheme was, IIRC, borrowed from the 1974 film The Taking Of Pelham 123, about a subway robbery. Tarantino also ‘borrowed’ very heavily from Ringo Lam’s 1987 Hong Kong heist movie City On Fire.

How 'bout in Resevoir Dogs when that guy was yelling. I swear I saw a different movie with a guy yelling. Did Q.T. rip this other movie off?

It’s a pretty common thing in crime novels and movies for hoodlums to only know each other by code names. You can’t rip off a cliche.

For more information about this film, see imdb. The user comments at the bottom of the page and on the next page indicate the video is hard to find but not impossible. You might want to e-mail some of those people to find out where they got it. I love your sig by the way. I used to live in WV, but I swear I never drove my tractor to that stadium.

Thanks, bibliophage. From what I recall, the announcer was fired after the game for his amusing, yet at times caustic announcements directed at WVu fans. As a Pitt fan, I thought they were hilarious. (and since Pitt has sucked for years, it’s all we had!)

I’ll go back to imdb and see if any of those folks could help me. I suspect that if I do find the movie, it will suck (my memory of things like old movies seems to make them better than they actually were… and when I see it years later I wonder why I liked it so much) but I’d still love to see it again just to refresh my memory.

Speaking of that… I just watched 48 Hours last night. I haven’t seen that movie in years. God, what bad acting! The movie is awful. The script is awful. The acting is awful. Eddie Murphy is good, but the rest of the cast, including Nick Nolte, is downright pathetic. (And I remembered loving this movie…)
