I came here to say that her parents raised a great kid, and we’ll be hearing more from her in the future - in a good way.
One of the surviving Parkland students is the granddaughter of a man who, as a young child, hid in a closet when this man entered his house back in 1949. I don’t know any further details, except that he obviously survived.
Maybe, maybe not. I guess it depends on where you lived, and what class you were part of.
Funny thing though, people felt much, much freer to say “nigger” or “kike” back in the day. I think I know what I prefer.

Just for a moment taking all your subjective opinion on the decline in American culture as fact, you do realize you can’t unring a bell, yes? I mean we will never, and I do mean never, return to the United States as it was in the 1950’s/early 1960’s. It is quite simply impossible to engineer society in that fashion( I mean for one thing it was an economically anomalous period in history ). You can’t do it with gentle suasion and you also couldn’t really accompish it even in a genuine autocracy.
So lamenting the good old days really doesn’t accomplish much other than annoying and alienating people who either didn’t live them or don’t agree with your view of them. It sounds much like old colonial elite ex-pats from Africa and Asia bemoaning the golden age before the independence movements of the 1960’s.
So if you can’t truly turn the clock back, what are your talking points for going forward? Because that is the only direction we can go, however you may wish otherwise.

I’ve never said social ills did not happen back then. What I’ve said is that mass school shootings did not happen back then. And I stand by that, primarily due to the fact it’s true. The fact that some random kid did indeed get shot back then does not in any way refute or nullify what I said about no mass shootings in schools back then.
I swear, if I were to make a claim that bombings didn’t happen in school in the 1950s, you or some other nitwit would haughtily post an incident where some kid set off a cherry bomb in the classroom and claim I was full of shit. The disingenuousness and dishonesty on this board is breathtaking.

Well, mass school shootings didn’t happen before Columbine, did they? That was 1999, 32 years after the Summer of Love. Would make way more sense to blame mass school shootings on Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich and the rise of conservatism in the 1980s and 1990s, if we’re going to look at them as a discrete phenomenon, distinct from mass shootings in general.
But if we accept that mass school shootings are just one head of the hydra of mass shootings, then I reiterate what I said earlier:
Actually I haven’t been to bed yet and I suspect I’m coming down with the flu.
