Another "what is this song?" thread, or, strain your brains for my petty gain!

Halfway through a burger at Chili’s on Thursday, I heard a song play on the overhead speakers that has been sitting on the edge of memory ever since, and I just might slaughter a pre-school if I don’t identify it. Sadly, this being a Chili’s, every five year old and his parents were shouting at the top of their lungs for balloon animals, and all I could hear of the lyrics was this:

“Some day the whole _____ will change … fall (far?) away from me.”

A large part of it was instrumental, and at one point, I thought it might be a song by the Goo Goo Dolls. That’s all I know.

Can anyone help me? My new balloon octopus to whosoever solves the mystery.

Was it “Somehow Someday” by Cory Lee?

Eta: Why I think it’s this, although I can’t find if there’s a lot of instrumentals is this line:
Somehow someday
when half my heart can be whole again
somehow someday
things are gonna change, yea there gonna change

Nah, that’s not it. This had a more ‘late 80-early 90s’ feel to it. Thanks anyway.

Dire Straits’ “So Far Away,” maybe?

“See, you’ve been in the sun, and I’ve been in the rain
And you’re so far away from me”

Going out on a limb - maybe you were hearing Things Will Only Get Better by Howard Jones

These are great songs – maybe you’d be happier if you just convinced yourself that you’d been hearing Howard Jones…
