Another "what movie was that?" question

I swear I really, really tried to find this on my own. But after floundering for an hour in several movie search databases, I conceded that I’ll never find it myself. So can anyone tell me the name of the following movie:

Genre: Sci-Fi
Year made: 1950-1970
Theatrical (not TV or video)
Plot Summary: A team of scientists create a time portal on the eve of a nuclear war. They go through the portal moments before their lab is vaporized. They find themselves in the future where Earth is a radioactive desert inhabited by mutants. The sole surviving humans live underground protected by androids with guns built into their hands. Their civilization doomed, the last humans work with the scientists to recreate their portal to escape into time.

Hmm… The Time Travlers sounds like it could be it, but I’m not sure. Now that I have a title, I can see if there’s a more comprehensive review on the Web. THANKS!

No such movie exists. You must have had a terrible dream or you have some ability to create the most deranged movie ideas.

I think it’s a crappy Australian movie called Time Guardian, with Carrie Fisher in it.
