I heard it used in factories in New England if it helps.

I been places where they were called skids.
Pallet was more common–'cause we used pallet jacks to move them.
Skids is the term I’m familiar with.
I know a few words for them but they are more suitable for the pit.
I work with pallets all weekend and let me tell you they are a big pain in the butt.
New England does have some unusal names for things. A milk shake is a frappe there. I have heard them referred to as a skid, a slip, a flat and as a bolster in addition to pallet.
