Does anyone know where I can get a good quality copy or print of the artwork of the famous National Lampoon cover that said “Read This Magazine or We’ll Shoot This Dog?”
Can’t help you. My daughter stole my copy.
I’ve searched the net for a decent print of that, and have been unable to find one.
Go to Google Images search and type in “national lampoon shoot dog” without the quotation marks.
Have you seen this , friedo ?
For Sale: Print of original “If You Don’t Buy This Magazine, We’ll Kill This Dog,” (Death issue) sketch reproduced along with a small 4-color reproduction of the actual cover. This sketch is the original drawing by Michael Gross (then art director of the magazine) and was the drawing used as a guide for the photographer. The print is a high quality reproduction on Heavy Matte paper (8-1/2 by 11) printed on a quality Epson photo printer. (Click here to see sample.) $20 (plus 1, postage, etc). Will send print off within a few days of receiving your order. The goes to a little fund I’ve created toward a NatLamp book. Contact Michael Gross 300 Carlsbad Vil Drv, 108a109, Carlsbad, CA 92008 or email me. (6/17/02)
But that’s not the original image nor is it a decent reproduction.
Anything you could ever want is available on eBay with three days to go.

I saw that same motif for a US Army re-enlistment poster.
