I have a 78RPM acetate disk of my grandmother reading a birthday message and story to me. She must have used one of those record-your-own booths ca. 1950.
Home video recorders came out in the 80’s. Cassette recorders came out in the 70’s. We have several recordings of my grand parents and other family members that died over 25 years ago.
I have a donor that I call and her late husband’s voice is still the answering machine message. It’s a cute sing-songy message. I can see why she keeps it.
