Answers to questions

Say I post some questions like this guy. And then someone, like Satan, comes along and has a bunch of quotes that answer my question or kind of answer it or whatever. And then at the bottom of his reply, Satan sort of hints that I should be doing the looking up myself. My question is, why should I look it up myself if I can spend a minute or two submitting it here and have someone else look it up? Don’t get me wrong, I think that getting the answers is what it’s all about, but why do others go through the trouble of looking it up, when they could just say, “You can find it on the dictionary page?” Or if they are kind enough to look it up for me, why do they have to make me feel bad I didn’t look it up?

If there has been a thread about this before, I’m sure someone will look it up for me.

Let’s hear it for the softer, easier way! It’s the American way! Tons of people want to let you know how smart they are, so much smarter than you (hell, why do you think I post responses?) so take advantage of it! Milk the arrogant bastards for all they’ll give!

Well in the example you give I don’t really see Satan trying to make the guy feel bad. I see Satan answering the question and then letting the OP what to do in the future.

Not everybody is knowledgeable about the Internet and it nice to let people know how you found things.

I have seen “We are not search engines” responses to some posters who where just taking the piss.

Give a person an answer & they have an answer for one question, teach a person to search, they have an answer for any question.
